As one of the developers of The Apothecary at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills and founder of Precious Petals, a natural perfume and aromatherapy line, Kedra Hart has had much experience working with rare and precious oils. Kedra is also a co-founder of Opus Oils, a perfume atelier based in Hollywood, CA and in Paris, France. Kedra designs custom scents, teaches perfumery in Los Angeles and Paris and is the Master Blender of Opus Oils.
Kedra, please tell us about Opus Oils. Your store is fantastic! I can only imagine the aromatic journey I would take upon walking through your doors.
Opus Oils is a Perfume Atelier located in the heart of glamorous Hollywood, CA. Our goal is to create high quality, unique couture perfumes in the traditional methods of the artisan perfumers of centuries past, with an emphasis on natural ingredients. Our specialty lines of Boutique Fragrances are hand blended, and poured in small batches to insure the highest quality and freshness.
As all of our Perfumes are in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil, there is never the harsh infusion of alcohol commonly found in so many commercial fragrances. Fractionated coconut oil is a light textured oil, water clear, which is odorless and tasteless. It is moisturizing and absorbs well leaving your skin silky smooth without that greasy feeling.
We are one of the few, niche perfumers involved in the quickly growing field known as “Natural Perfumery”. We offer several Perfume Collections (The Divine Collection, The Island Girl Collection, And the Fetish Collection), that are 100 percent Natural (no synthetics).
On September 3,2008 we opened up our first Jitterbug Perfume Parlour on Hollywood Blvd!
After years of underground success with our Absinthe, Burlesque, Roller Girl & Fetish Collections, it felt like a good time to move above ground and into several floors of the Historic French American Bldg., on Hollywood Blvd. We’ve turned the 1920′s fortress like structure into our World Headquarters & Flagship Jitterbug Perfume Parlour. We offer more than exquisite luxury products & a unique experience, even the furniture & decor here is for for sale! Also, we’ll be offering Perfume Classes and special Scented Events throughout the year.
I draw inspiration from all over-People, Movies , Music, Niche Cultures (Our Absinthe Collection, for example). I never know when I will be hit by the inspiration bug! As far as the services- I try to think of everything that I would want to experience product and service wise, and then come up with a way to do it.
My favorite experience with my profession lately, has been seeing the reaction of the children who walk by our store! Sometimes the just stop dead in their tracks and stare in until their parents literally have to drag them away. A few of them have wandered inside and asked to smell something! I guess it must look like a big doll house or something to them…
In the future we plan to open up Franchise Jitterbug Perfume Parlours in many major cities.
And of course, we will always be coming up with our trademark new and unusual Perfume Launches…
