Wedding gowns and pageant gowns have put Jennyvi Dizon on the road to a fabulous career in design. Featured in print media as well as TV spots, Jennyvi has made a name for herself in Arizona and across the globe.
Jennyvi, can you share a little bit about yourself, your business and how you got started?
My love for designing and fashion first started when my father who was a tailor in the Philippines taught me how to sew. At first, I wasn’t comfortable on the sewing machine and so I would hand sew clothes for my dolls and sketch out my designs. Every since I could remember I was always drawing and designing. I am fortunate that I have a supportive family and friends who encourage me to keep going in my fashion endeavors. I think my childhood friends are surprised, I’ve kept sewing and I’m actually making a living off what I love to do most.
Where do you draw inspiration for your designs?
I like to think of myself as an artist, I take from art, other cultures, music and nature. Other than fashion I like to paint, crochet my own lace, travel, go to indie concerts, support local artists and I really take from what I am surrounded by. I was fortunate as a child that I was able to travel to other countries and live in other parts of the world. I was born in the Philippines, lived in Bahrain and even traveled to places like London and Paris for free, since my dad’s other career was working as data analyst for Continental Airlines.
What pieces have been your best sellers?
My wedding gowns are mostly what I make my living off of, but I’ve done just as many pageant gowns. My sister even placed in the Miss Teen Philippines (Arizona) and I had made her gown out of silk.
What are your future plans?
I am currently going to show my work during Scottsdale Fashion Week and up for Scottsdale Fashion Week’s Designer of the Year Award, which is a peoples choice award where people place their vote : ). I hope I win, but if not I am just as honored to be showing in a high caliber show like that and honored that people have helped me get this far in my career.

In the next year or so, I will be doing a lot of research and development on trying to take my company to a national level. I am hoping in a few years to move to my favorite city, Seattle and foster my business in multiple cities across the nation.
