My hair has been a multitude of lengths and colors. Most recently I had the longer version of Victoria Beckhams angled bob and the mod color stripes in blonde and brown. I managed to get into a horrible hair rut these last few months. You know what I’m talking about. I’m not happy with the style or color, but I don’t know what I want.
Unfortunately, my hair rut lasted almost 4 months. I was starting to avoid mirrors, so I decided to book an appointment. I was thinking it was time to go back to my natural color and start from scratch. A new year, a clean slate…What was I thinking! My natural color was not the blonde I thought it was. In fact, quite the opposite. The 2 inch root growth and the virgin hair with no color at the nape of my neck is brown. Brown! Not dirty blonde, not ashe, brown! Brunette! Whatever you want to call it…not blonde.
I have seriously been in hair denial for quite some time I think. The gray, I had started to except. The fact that my hair is now brown…not prepared for that shock! So if you didn’t know me personally, you might think it was attractive. The people who do know me are stumbling for the right words. I told them not to bother. I have an appointment already scheduled to put some blonde back in. Guess I wasn’t exactly ready for change.

Well, Beth, if this headliner didn’t grab my attention! We are always hardest on ourselves, and it is hard to get out of our comfy box. I hope you get back to feeling you. I just got bangs the other day and am not loving them. I figured it was that or Botox (and I’m not kidding). Now I feel like I don’t have a true style as I have a longer version of Posh’s bob myself…I don’t know where I’m going with this. I hate hair ruts! Good luck with yours

Oh Beth….I definately know where you’re coming from! I have a couple times tried to let my natural color come back (also dk. brown) and I can’t stand it – I aways go back to the blond. I remember doing this one time (a reverse coloring where they matched my blond ends to my natural roots) when I was working with my kids at the elementary school – yeah, they’re not completely subtle when they gasp and ask what the heck you’ve done! You know what I mean – the brutal honesty of kids! So, anway, I TOTALLY relate!
Cheers,
Deb:)

Hey!
What’s wrong with brunette? My hair is naturally brunette with natural red and blondish highlights…normally. But, years ago I started coloring and turning myself into mahoghany and burgundy..and GAWD…never blonde. They say brunettes are looked at as more intelligent…don’t know about burgundy heads! I’ve also basically had the same style hair cut since 1986! Maybe a little longer or shorter..but this bi level cut that everyone comments on saying it looks great. If I let my hair (naturally curly) grow out longer..it gets bulky like Gilda Radner..so the hair stylist says..the only other option is to go short..and I’m too scared. It’s already only to my shoulders. I have to be able to put it up when I get to the gym and it’s so layered..I only have a little piggy tail to put up! LOL!

Thanks! You should see the looks on people’s faces! First their mouths drop open and then they try to find the right thing to say.

Hair color is always a problem….I’ve been “getting the color God intended” for the past 25 years, and am very happy with it….sure beats mouse brown with gray! Hope you can quickly work out something you like.

Hi, I have the opposite dilema, I have been bottle blonde for as long as i can remember, but lately, it has different colours of blonde and as i don’t know what colour to go i know have dark blonde roots. Also in the past my blonde hair would lift to an almost white in the sun. I have now decided it is time for a change and will be going Brown on Thursday. Wish me luck.

Hah hah! My biological hair color is one my mom used to call “poo brown.”
Miss Clairol is my friend. And has been for over a decade.
I would never go back to uncolored hair. Unless I’m dead. Or Clairol is.

I personally think brunette’s are FABULOUS! Not that I am jaded or anything! I am in the same rut with you though! I want to cut it differently (as if a change in hair style is instantly going to make me feel thin, attractive or less in debt!) BUT I don’t want to lose the length! I an in a quandary over how to cut it!
