Renee Egan, Owner of Hardwick Home Décor, has worked 10 years in the marketing world, traveling to tradeshows, working on websites, lead generation, and much more. After having her first child four years ago, and her second 2 years ago, she decided to take a little time off from working to be with them. “When my youngest was about 1 1/2, I was itching to get back to work, but did not want to go back to the corporate world that demanded 12 hour work days,” says Renee.
“The first artist and creator of our initial products, Ronnie Wells, was a family friend. We were discussing his work and how beautiful it would be inlayed into backsplashes and outdoor fireplaces. I started to put our thoughts on paper, laid out some initial costs, approached a factory overseas and decided it could be done. Obviously, there have been some reservations about launching this company in this economy, but I remain truly passionate about these pieces and confident in our unique, high quality art products.”
“I have a passion for the unique in people’s home…items that depict who they are and what they love. In today’s world of cookie cutter homes, I love to walk into a home with unique designs and décor. This is what in part inspired me to launch a company that would allow people the ability to add a little something unique to their household.”
“Since I’m in the process of launching this company, my favorite experience is just that….the excitement of launching this unique home décor company. I love the pieces that Ronnie has designed, and I can’t wait to see these pieces all over the country providing an eye-catching focal point in people’s kitchens and outdoor spaces. I look forward to meeting additional artists to represent and getting their pieces on our site, in stores and in people’s homes as well.”
“Also, I am very focused on work/life balance, and that plays a huge part in current profession. I think so many people get caught in the rat race, and burn out so quickly in the corporate world. For me, I get to do what I love – building this company and also run get my kids and eat lunch together without someone looking over my shoulder with a stop watch. It’s a beautiful thing!”
