Hedge Fund is Holger Berndt’s debut novel.  Holger has more than a dozen years experience in the investment management business as a trader, research analyst, and successful hedge fund portfolio manager for both equities and convertible securities. He’s a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) who lives in San Francisco.

The book draws heavily from his years of experience in the money management industry.  Holger’s goal was to make it entertaining and easy to understand, while adding a level of authenticity that’s frequently missing from fiction centered upon the financial world.  Hedge Fund‘s engaging plot and realism combine to make it appeal to … Read More »

Look Chic Without Breaking The Bank | March 18, 2009

As much as we would all like to believe that we live like characters in a Barbara Taylor Bradford novel where we sip champagne in one of our six country homes whilst we wait for the butler to announce lunch, I’m guessing that many of you are like me: stuck in reality.  Not that being stuck in reality is necessarily a bad thing, it just means that we have to be a lot more creative to look good.

Recently I was reading a national magazine and they had a fashion spread on children’s outfits for spring.  The outfits were cute, … Read More »

A Goodwill Truck And A Dumpster | March 17, 2009

One thing I have noticed about myself as I supposedly grow up is that some of my ideas of fun and excitement are so far away from what I ever thought they would be.   As a teenager I never dreamed that one day I would be so excited to get a new vacuum.  If someone would have told me “you know some day you are going to love buying a vacuum” I would have laughed in their face.  Well 2 years ago that day came and I was excited–but in my defense it is a Dyson AND purple.  I remember … Read More »

You Take The Cake | March 17, 2009

Certain events in our lives require us to take food to comfort or contribute to a life event; like a reunion, a funeral, or an illness.  My mom has a great cake that she calls her “funeral cake”.  I know it sounds tacky, but it is true. Our lives have gotten so hectic that sometimes we don’t take food when we should, simply because we don’t have time.  I have a few recipes for cakes to take that deliver comfort. They are relatively easy and let them know you care without lots of ingredients and time.

Recipes This Week:
Sour Cream Pound … Read More »
