Author Writes Of Economic Struggles | April 7, 2009

L.C. Evans loves to write. She grew up in Florida and now lives in North Carolina with her husband Bob and their three dogs. Occasionally there is a sighting around their home of a certain neurotic cat that may or may not be a part of the Evans household. Though L.C. is the author of many published mystery stories and children’s stories, Jobless Recovery is her first published novel. Written in 2004 and published in 2005, the book was a response to the corporate rush to outsourcing and insourcing that–in Ms. Evans mind–threatened the American economy. Many of the … Read More »

Heat experiences for health can be uplifting and will work wonders for your body and mind.

Heating the body for health is something that has been around since the days of Hippocrates, the founder of modern medicine.  Over two thousand years ago, he taught that raising the body temperature -brings about curative results.

Sometimes Free, Has A Cost… | April 3, 2009

I have a master goal list, it has been an ongoing endeavor for 10 years. As I complete something or change my mind I alter the list. On this list are things like publish a book, lay on a beach, finish my never ending renovation and own a greenhouse.

I think of this list as things that encompass my hearts desire. But as I mature or gain wisdom I remove things, grow out of wants or simply decide to omit various goals. But, a greenhouse has never left it’s place in the top five. I have researched them, picked my … Read More »

All That Glitters… | April 3, 2009

Live luxe this spring as seasonal metallics carry through into the warmer months, with golds and bronzes making a frequent appearance at the new collection shows.  Jackets and trousers were a recurring theme, with silks and sequins adding a gilded touch to classic styles.  Mix with whites and nude shades to keep the look appropriate for the lighter days ahead.

Very Naughty Things and How to Do Them | April 2, 2009

“I only have eyes for you, Scott McClellan.”

My favorite show, hands-down, is NPR’s Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me.    I mean, where else would you hear Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan playing a game  called, “You’re a Diminutive, Gay, Alcoholic Genius and Gossip Addict” and asked three questions about the famed gossip, writer Truman Capote.  (McClellan got a perfect score, by the way, which led host Peter Sagal to wonder why two other White House Press Secretaries, Dana Perino and Tony Snow,  who had previously appeared on the show, failed the quiz.  Sagal offered the explanation that perhaps, … Read More »

Switch Hitter Celeb Fashion Hits and Misses | April 2, 2009

I am quite open-minded when it comes to challenging fashion “rules” and creatively styling fun pieces with basics. So I am never shocked with Gwen Stefani, my music and fashion role model, making it on lists that denounce her judgment calls, questioning her so-called “misses.” I am also never surprised when this same celeb makes it to certain trendsetter lists and appears in lovely designs that showcase her personality.

Both categories that Gwen seems to straddle with nonchalance are kudos to her style. Either she is criticized for her poor choice of fashion sense, which proves her daring and confidence in … Read More »

I Believe I’m Laying On The Beach | April 1, 2009

Saturday morning my son played baseball, despite the temperature not reaching 40 degrees. Despite a Wind Advisory with gusts of wind strong enough to wipe out a t-ball player! Nevertheless, we played. Played, and won…

As I tried to comfort the chilly and crying kids and just endure the cold, I transported myself to the beach. My Mom used to tell me to do that: on cold days standing at the bus stop, she’d tell me to imagine I was on a warm beach… when the weather was blistering hot in the summer, she’d tell me to imagine being on the … Read More »
