My sister, Kathy, the one I have mentioned before, turned me on to this sinful buttermilk pie recipe. It is perfect for summer get-togethers because you can whip a few up in no time. My family, (mother) just loves chess pie, but lots of us found it to be heavy and too rich. Kathy found this buttermilk pie and it is just the perfect texture and taste! It has now become a new tradition at our family gatherings that Mother even approves of. That is so hard to get, let me tell you! So, here is another one of Kathy’s finds for you to enjoy.
3 eggs
1 c sugar
2 T flour
1/2 c melted butter
1 c buttermilk
1 t vanilla
1 9-in.unbaked pie shell
Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees
Beat eggs slightly then add sugar and flour. Add Melted butter and mix well. Add buttermilk and vanilla, then mix thoroughly. Dust the unbaked pie shell with a bit of flour. pour batter into shell, than sprinkle a touch more flour on top.
Bake at 325 degrees until the custard is set, (approximately 1 hour).
