Recently my daughter went on a photo shoot where she was asked to show her style and dress in her own clothing. This caused a flurry of clothes flying across the room and even down the stairs, but she was able to narrow her choices to two. Then she raided my closet. Having a daughter who will deny that there is a single thing in my closet that she would ever put on her body, she managed to gather a pair of shoes and my pearls.
In 1913, Coco Chanel opened her first boutique in Paris. Her signature style and extraordinary influence continues to be seen on runways today. My closet is filled with “Chanel” influenced pieces and my daughter, though she will never admit this, also seems to be drawn to this style. The simple elegance of the little black dress and a string of pearls exemplifies Chanel’s famous quote, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
I spend a lot of time building my wardrobe with Chanel inspired signature pieces and find comfort in the fact that I always have the right outfit for the right occasion. The problem, however, is my clothes and accessories seem to end up on the floor in my daughter’s bedroom. Wonder where my pearls ended up?

Mother/daughter relationships are so special, and different from mother/son. My daughters would not go through my stuff to use it, but toss it. You are so blessed. Have a great day.

Love the picture of your daughter. Having had boys, I didn’t have the pleasure of sharing my style with them. Lucky you!

I have always heard “you can never go wrong with a black dress” Pearls for me bring up fond memories. I think that when you put the two together they bring you comfort and confidance. In my opinion two must haves to look and feel beautiful.

At least you know where she gets her style…..

Nice to see she’s showing such great style already. She looks beautiful. Anna does her best to do the opposite of what we want with fasion – so I try hard not to direct her, hoping she’ll still dress decently

Good taste! I dressed up as Coco too–for a Halloween party. But I always wear a nod to her too when I’m just a mom in jeans…

Clara is so beautiful…and I love this picture of her. YOU & Coco Chanel are both great role models.

Our little girl is growing up. What a beautiful young lady. She’s always had her own fashion style but I’m glad to see your elegant taste is rubbing off on her.

Thanks everyone! Clara went to school in toe socks that didn’t match yesterday. She certainly has her own sense of style when she doesn’t have a camera on her.
