Why not incorporate this very important movement in our weddings? There are numerous ways for people to be ‘green’ while marching down the aisle. I’ve listed a few to help you get started:

1) Vintage Wedding Rings – Remake a family heirloom; shop at a antique jewellery store; or melt down old gold and custom create your own design.

2)Chose a location that is convenient for you and most of your guests. This will cut down on travel impacts and will leave less of a carbon footprint.

3) For your bachelorette and/or stag and doe’s, send your invitations by email or internet invitation services – this will minimize the use of paper.

4) Vintage, Vintage, Vintage! – Vintage clothing is quite popular. Find vintage bridesmaids dresses or even a vintage wedding dress and put your own custom flair on them.

5) Go Organic! There are so many organic alternatives to food and drink these days, it should be easy to find a unique organic wine or main dish.

6) Look for a photographer that uses digital proofs of your photos, this will lower the amount of paper used.

7) Outdoor Weddings! That’s right; having your wedding outdoors saves on energy, by not having to use as much electricity to light the area. After all, that’s what the sun is for!

8 ) He loves me; He loves me not – Choose flowers from the current season. Every season provides beautiful blooms to choose from!

  • Summer: Chrysanthemum
  • Fall: Aster
  • Winter: Amaryllis
  • Spring: Delphinium

Horse and Carriage – Every girl dreams of her knight in shinning armor riding up on horse to save her. Make that fantasy come true: it’s romantic and keeps the air clean!

Give, Give, Give! When registering for your bridal registry, find a store that gives back to the environment for each purchase made!

I can just imagine how wonderful one feels at the end of their wedding day; blissful, exhausted, and exhilarated! Well why not feel proud at the end of the day that you’ve also done your part to help the environment?

Each and everyday we can do something small to help out our environment; picking up trash on the ground and put it in its place; ensuring that at home and in the office we are recycling as much as possible; and of course, talking a nice walk to the store every once in awhile instead of driving!

BE GREEN!
