Beauty Tips for Teens | October 26, 2009

Here are my top 10 beauty tips for Teens (but they are great for adults too!)

Don’t over wash your face. Teens usually have oily/acne prone skin.  A knee-jerk reaction is usually to constantly wash and use toner to “dry up” the problem.  This only makes things worse.  You should wash 3 times a day at the most, and you shouldn’t strip your skin.  This seems counter intuitive, but you cannot dry out the skin and expect acne to go away.  This only makes it worse.

Use moisturizer. Once again, it seems to be the opposite of what you think.  If you … Read More »

Going Gray; The Real Deal | October 26, 2009

About 3 years ago I made a decision to stop coloring my hair. It seemed like no big deal at the time.  I mean, it is my hair, right?  People change their hair all of the time without big repercussions, right?  Well, it is NOT SO when you choose to go GRAY!

It so happens that my hair has lots of white and gray in it.  The criticism from family, friends, even strangers, came almost immediately!

Let me tell you why I quit “the bottle”.  First, my hair is (was) brown. Brown hair dye fades almost immediately!  It is not like bleach for … Read More »

Yoga Poses For Detoxing | October 24, 2009

Powered by ONO Energizer Yogi, a delicious pomegranate black tea from the ONO Yogalates Collection. A good yoga practice stretches and compresses every part of the body to keeping the waste-removal departments (circulatory, digestive, and lymphatic systems) of the body functioning well. I like these poses because they are easy and they help to push, pull, and twist my body. Not only does it feel great, but these poses also help facilitate the removal of waste products.

Pose #1 – Downward Facing Dog:

Downward Facing Dog

INSTRUCTIONS: Sit up tall with your legs straight. Bend your right knee and bring the sole of your right … Read More »

A Round Toit | October 24, 2009

I was once in a Doctor’s office and saw a magnet to ask them about getting a Round Toit.  Of course my curiosity got the better of me and I asked the Dr. (a good hour after my appointment was supposed to have occurred!) “What exactly is a Round Toit?” Well, of course, the Dr. smiled and said “I am so glad you asked about that.” Little did I know that already at the age of about twenty- something I already had more Round Toits than I knew what to do with.  Now, at the “delicate” age of forty (shhh, … Read More »

Bobbi Brown Makeup Artist Works Her Magic | October 24, 2009

Makeup for me has always been a mystery.  Years ago, I went through the color draping with “Color Me Beautiful.” I’ve been to makeup artists more times than I can count on my fingers and toes combined.  I’ve heard I should stick to corals and peaches only to be told to stay away from these colors.  I’ve had neon pink lipstick, tropical fish blue eye shadow and clown cheeks and spent hundreds of dollars on cosmetics because I thought it was the right combination.  I would have to say that, like many other women in the world, choosing the … Read More »

Ice Destination and Fire Fashion | October 23, 2009

It’s called the land of Fire and Ice…and it’s home to some of the largest geysers and ice caps in the world. I’m talking about Iceland my fellow Jet-Setters! It’s on the top of my list of places to visit right now. It’s a cool destination that also has some hot and rare fashion. How many people do you know who have been to Iceland? Wouldn’t it be neat to say you’ve Jet-Setted there?

First, a little to know about Iceland: While our spring and summer is their high season (also the most expensive times to go), Iceland still has plenty … Read More »

A More Fashionable Way to Hail a Cab! | October 22, 2009

Growing up in New York City, I learned the two classic ways to hail a cab: (1) stick out your arm, or (2) whistle!

Well, a designer from Manhattan, Regine Basha (her father is Aaron Basha- famous jewelry designer), has come up with a new and more fashionable way to hail a cab…a handbag or “taxi clutch” with the word TAXI spelled out across the front. Ok, so you are wondering, how can a cab driver see that?…well, the word TAXI is designed in lights that can be switched on and off when you need to hail transportation. The taxi clutch … Read More »
