Toxic | November 17, 2009

I don’t know about you – but my daily routine involves applying various “lotions and potions” to my face and body multiple times during the day.

There are the cleansers, toners and moisturizers to keep my skin clear; the SPF I apply after wards to protect it, and the makeup to enhance my features. Not only this, but, what also comes into contact with my skin is the soap I use in the shower, the shampoos and conditioners, the body lotion I use after wards, perfumes, deodorants, and the list goes on!

When you really think about it – how many products … Read More »

Size her Up! | November 16, 2009

The other day my co-worker handed over an article from the Canadian Press titled “Hey, guys, put down the beer and take a hint”. Strange title I know, but great article. So the premise behind this article is all about a new product that is hitting bars and restaurants around Canada. It is Canadian Jewelry Exchange’s ring-sizer coaster. So what is a ring-sizer coaster?? Well, it is a normal coaster but with special powers. The coaster can tell you what size engagement ring your future fiancé should buy you. Working in the wedding industry it is always neat to see … Read More »

Misinformation From the Stepmothering Industry | November 16, 2009

Misinformation From the Stepmothering Industry
by Wednesday Martin, Ph.D., Author of Stepmonster: A New Look at Why Real Stepmothers Think, Feel, and Act the Way We Do

Books for stepmothers tend to perpetuate certain myths. The myth of the blended family and the myth of the maternal stepmother are the most glaring examples. These books’ relentlessly upbeat tone can make stepmothers feel as though our own occasional negativity and impatience regarding his kids are freakish. Other books on stepmothering are so lighthearted, so insistent that we see the humor in our situation and in our responses to it, that reading them … Read More »

Cheer and Hope Spread Through Happy First | November 16, 2009

Long before it was a company, “Happy First” was a simple greeting conceived by a woman named Debbie Vinyard. It was her way of celebrating: the first day of every month, the first big milestones in life, the first moments of living each day. As a Hodgkin’s Disease survivor, she relied on happiness as both ally and antidote throughout her fight against cancer.

“I have always loved fashion,” says Debbie Vinyard, owner of Happy First boutique. “I used to spend hours doodling and drawing clothes. I grew up mostly in Dallas (originally from New York). I had a neighbor who had a … Read More »

Eating Our Way Through Iceland on Day 1 | November 15, 2009

Icelandic cuisine is fresh and delicious – locally caught fish and free roaming lamb are common dishes that are always great. You can also find interesting delicacies like puffin, wild goose and rotten shark. But Icelanders like their fast food too – so you can definitely get your fix of hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza. Our first meal was at Prikid Restaurant on Laugevegar- the main shopping and culture street.Inside, it looks like a bar downstairs, and in fact at night that’s exactly what it turns into.Just head upstairs for a table and you will be sitting right … Read More »

Yoga Jeans | November 14, 2009

Jeans are so versatile. You can dress them up or down and use them for multiple occasions, styles, and looks. I love jeans – I might almost have a weakness for them. Every time I run into a store, I swear they are calling my name to try them on. I have numerous different kinds in my closet.

Denim however, can be one of the biggest gripes that women have to deal with. There are so many styles that play tricks with our legs, bums, thighs and muffin tops that it’s no wonder so many women ended frustrated trying to find … Read More »

Iceland Here We Come | November 13, 2009

The thing about Iceland which I cannot stress enough is that it’s so close! It’s a destination that you could certainly jet set to for a week or two, but you can also plan it as an easy long weekend trip. We left on a Tuesday night and got back that Sunday night and felt that we had a really good feel for the city by that time. Icelandair out of JFK will take you there direct where you will land in Keflavik airport in Iceland. The time there is +5 hours this time of year. Note: Iceland … Read More »

Authors of The Weight Loss Plan for Beating Diabetes: The 5-Step Program That Removes Metabolic Roadblocks, Sheds Pounds Safely, and Reverses Prediabetes and Diabetes

Beating diabetes to shed pounds is a lot easier when you can overcome the “roadblocks” that come with the condition. Lip “perfection” | November 13, 2009

Lips – they are such an expressive part of our faces. They tell people we’re interacting with how we’re feeling, and can instantly change the “look” of an outfit by the colour we put over them.

When applying makeup for my clients – many women tell me how frustrated they become with lipsticks and lip glosses, as none have the staying power they hope for. Not only this, but all women have different textures and lines in their lips that require different approaches and manners of “finesse” in order to make them look stellar.

I find that many women have textured lips. … Read More »
