Ree Drummond began blogging in 2006 and has built www.ThePioneerWoman.com into an award-winning website, where she shares recipes, showcases her photography, and documents her hilarious transition from city life to ranch wife. Ree lives on a working cattle ranch near Pawhuska, Oklahoma, with her husband, Ladd, and their four ranch hands.
With the recent release of her cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl, Ree hit #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers list, did a whirlwind book tour and made it home in a snowstorm to celebrate Christmas with her family.
“After years of living in Los Angeles, I made a pit stop in my hometown in Oklahoma on the way to a new, exciting life in Chicago. It was during my stay at home that I met Marlboro Man, a mysterious cowboy with steely blue eyes and a muscular, work-honed body. A strict vegetarian, I fell hard and fast, and before I knew it we were married and living on his ranch in the middle of nowhere, taking care of animals, and managing a brood of four young children. I had no idea how I’d wound up there, but I knew it was exactly where I belonged,” says Ree.
“The Pioneer Woman Cooks is a homespun collection of photography, rural stories, and scrumptious recipes that have defined my experience in the country. I share many of the delicious cowboy-tested recipes I’ve learned to make during my years as an accidental ranch wife—including Rib-Eye Steak with Whiskey Cream Sauce, Lasagna, Fried Chicken, Patsy’s Blackberry Cobbler, and Cinnamon Rolls—not to mention several “cowgirl-friendly” dishes, such as Sherried Tomato Soup, Olive Cheese Bread, and Creme Bruele. I show my recipes in full color, step-by-step detail, so it’s as easy as pie to follow along.”
“You’ll also find colorful images of rural life: cows, horses, country kids, and plenty of chaps-wearing cowboys,” Ree continues. “I hope you get a kick out of this book of mine. I hope it makes you smile. I hope the recipes bring you recognition, accolades, and marriage proposals. And I hope it encourages even the most harried urban cook to slow down, relish the joys of family, nature, and great food, and enjoy life.”
So let me tell you a little bit about how I know The Pioneer Woman. Ree and I grew up in the same small Oklahoma town. Her parents and mine were the best of friends and thus we are somewhat related. Ree’s mom is my children’s Godmother and my mom is Ree’s sister Betsy’s Godmother. This is a photo of us with my Dad. Though quite a bit older than Ree, I often seemed to take on the “big sister” role. I vacationed with her on Hilton Head Island, watched her ballet recitals and danced at her wedding. So I have to say that I’m extremely proud of her for launching this incredible cookbook and the success of her blog www.thepioneerwoman.com. With awards too numerous to mention, her website took the blogging world by storm. Her natural talent behind a camera, her hilarious wit and her cooking talents (with a little help from her mom and mine) have made her website a daily adventure visited by thousand throughout the world. The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl

Living a rather chilly life in Reno, NV…a far cry from where I originally hale from in Southern California. And cooking?….I love cooking everything! But baking is my passion, I must say. And recently I find myself dabbling with different types of monkey breads. Another creative artistic outlet completely embraced by myself!

I now live in the Tampa area of Florida, although we have also lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania, the DC area, upstate NY, New England. The weather here is so much better than all of those places…we love it here! I’ve recently started cooking a lot more in my crockpot because of my children’s schedules. But when I have the time, I love to cook Italian and a lot of old favorite dishes from my childhood.

Hi all- I live in sunny California near Temecula which is home to several fine wineries. In the past I have really enjoyed experimenting and cooking different pasta dishes, using local wine to try and make that “perfect” sauce. Lately I have been interested in coking more comfort food- and oh is it more fun to eat! I would love, love to win a copy of PW’s book!

I learned from my mother, who learned from her mother, who learned from her mother, who learned… well, you get the idea. Not to say that I haven’t added a lot of international recipes to my repertoire (I LOVE spicy food!) but when I think “what shall I cook?” my mind just goes into autopilot for the delicious dishes I grew up on.

Growing up on the border meant you were weaned on Mexican food and, to this day, the flavors from the kitchen of my best childhood friend’s mom come to me in dreams. My best and favorite recipe are my Tacos (and I would throw down with Bobby Flay!) and my machaca. Its not the traditional dried beef, but slow cooked, richy spiced and sooo very yummy.

Ok, I received a Pioneer Womans t shirt, here in NJ, from a friend who lives in NC, who I told about Pioneer Woman a year ago.
A month ago, the friend in the car driving from Greenville SC, driving the 2 1/2 hours to Ree’s Atlanta Book Signing in December.
I sent this friend in SC my second jar of Mortons Hot Salt I had to special order from Morton’s to make Ree;s Spicy Chicken wings!
So if you are following this I live in NJ, and have been an avid Ree Fan for a year. Bought her cookbook, with hours of it’s release, but gifted it to my son’s girlfriend in Illinois this Christmas.
So I am without a cookbook at this moment, and would LOVE to have a signed version.
My latest Ree convert, is my non-cooking sister who made Ree’s Onion Soup and Hot Wings last week!
My fellow Woman’s Club members know my obsession with Ree, when I made Texas Sheet Cake for Monet Program we sponsored at our library last May. Made the Asian Salad for our Womans Club installation dinner. It was such a hit. Then at the Christmas dinner at my house, I served up Ree’s Apple Dumplings. Something my Colorado In-laws loved during the summer visit to NJ.
I WILL continue to promote the Pioneer Woman far and wide- from South Jersey, to South Carolina, to the mountains of Colorado, and the Midwest.
But, would love to continue this one woman PR campaign with a Signed Cookbook! Since I gave my beloved copy to my son’s girlfriend in Illinois, and now I’m Ree—-less…………..

Ree’s recipes are wonderful! I am such a fan, plus she is a real sweetheart who managed in her busy life to answer a couple of my emails (really late at night I might add). I live in New Orleans and I love to cook slow-cooker foods, roasts, pork, chicken… mmmm…

I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life and can’t imagine living anywhere else. We are fortunate to be able to enjoy four seasons; seeing the changes and feeling them as well. Right now we are at about -12 ! I love to cook soups and stews. It seems that no matter what there are always some ingredients that you can throw together, add some seasonings and, if my hubby is lucky..dumplings ! I’m a new follower of Ree & her website ! love it !!

I live in Pleasanton, CA. I love to cook it all, but really love soups, breads, and cookies, and anything with butter. Recently, a friend introduced me to Ree’s recipes, and it has cured my cooking rut. While I’d rather give up chocolate than homeshool my kids, I sure do think she’s a mighty fine cook!

I love making chicken enchiladas, cheesecake, and homemade granola bars.
My favorite cookbooks all have lots and lots of pictures…so I’m sure Ree’s cookbook would be an instant favorite.
P.S. My birthday is January 18th. Just thought you might like to know that…

I’m an Atlanta native who grew up on southern fried chicken, ham with red-eye gravy, collard greens, creamed corn, biscuits, and banana pudding. I married a New Yorker raised on pastrami, corned beef, rye bread, latkes, chopped liver, and cheesecake. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE most of those, but had to learn to cook them. We’ve been married 27 years and have both straddled the line into the other’s favorites — except for banana pudding (him) and chopped liver (me).
I enjoy looking through the Sunday newspaper and cutting out recipes. When I plan my weekly menu I’ll pull out something new that we both might enjoy. Our nest is mostly empty so I’ve gotten cooking down to Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. (Poor guy, he has to eat the same thing two nights in a row, but he can learn to cook if he doesn’t like what I do after working all day.)

Where do I live? Good question. I would say I’m homeless but that’s not quite true, although a touch more glamorous than living with my mother in-law, which is what I am actually doing here in Iowa. I’m looking for a job and in the mean time blogging. If only my life was as romantic and photogenic as The Pioneer Woman.
I am from scratch cook. I make it all from scratch – that’s not quite true, I have yet to figure out how to mill my own flour and make my own cheese, but I’m working on that. Check out my blog for recipes and delicious photos. If you’re really nice you could even subscribe or follow. Pretty please?

I live in Georgetown, TX and take care of three little knuckleheads who HATE all food. I unfortunately LOVE food and LOVE to cook it. I printed your recipe for the BEST lasange ever and the apple dumpling recipe. Well, after the sniff test, poking around, and general whining they ate it. My oldest (10) commented saying “this is actually really good” . King of the Knuckleheads (dad) said it was “the best lasange he had ever tasted”. That is saying alot because he is married to an italian (me:)). The apple dumplings were to die for….AWESOME. My 3 year old said nothing but UMMMM after every bit. Thanks for great recipes.

At the moment, I live in Charlottesville, Virginia…although, I’ve never lived anywhere longer than 5 years. I love cooking meals for my family, and almost everything has a Southwest flair (since I spent most of my life in north Texas). From omelets to potroast leftovers that are converted into BBQ or tacos. Heck, even my Asian dishes taste southwestern (and I’m half-Chinese!). I LOVE Ree’s blog, and the first night I encountered it, I read her entire love story saga from start to finish (at least what she’d finished up to that point). She reeled me in…and as SOON as there’s an update in my google Reader from PW, I read it in a heartbeat. So excited for her amazing successes with her blog and cookbook…I can’t wait to read it myself!

I love Ree’s wit, her photography is amazing, and her recipes are incredible. I grew up in the city, but longed to live in the country (though I don’t like to get dirty LOL!) After I married my wonderful husband we found a place just outside of Chanute, KS, on 5 acres. We thought it would be enough to sustain us the rest of our lives, but our 13-year-old daughter longs to be a farmer so we are looking for more acreage, as raising 1 cow (for 4-H), 2 hogs, and 12 chickens gets a little tight on 5 acres. I love cooking in the winter as long, especially if it can be cooked on top of the the wood stove. I enjoy grilling no matter the weather, but some day I’m going to build me a fire pit so I can cook over a real fire in the summer too. Do I dare to dream about an outdoor hearth oven, oh, that would be the ultimate dream come true.
