A Sunday visit to Hoboken included breakfast and a visit to the famous bakery known as Carlos Bakery, which most of you know from TLC’s Cake Boss!

Me with Buddy
The Italian family that bakes together…stays together!! Through the blood, sweat and tears they are still family and they are just as crazy in person as they are on the reality TV show. When arriving to the bakery there was Buddy outside taking pictures with customers who were waiting in line. He was really sweet and very friendly, talking to everyone even someone’s grandma who was asking him if he knew friends of hers because they were both from the same town! Waiting in line we also saw Buddy’s mom who made herself known to everyone in line by saying “Sorry, Mama has to go to church!!” “Yup I’m the Mama!!” while waving happily to everyone!
About a half hour we were finally in the store…and we were given a number. Looking around past the sea of people, you could see all the familiar shots that were on the show, the counter, pictures of people who have visited and also articles about the bakery. Toward the back of the store you saw the famous steps that lead up to the room where most of the taping happens! While waiting for our number to get called all you can hear are orders being taken and the loud voices behind the counter. One particular familiar voice was that of Buddy’s sister, Mary, asking what size t-shirt a customer wanted. Buddy was now inside and autographing mugs, shirts, and aprons you name it! Being a fan of the show I did purchase an apron signed by Buddy!

Inside the popular bakery
Finally our number was called and a young girl behind the counter helped us out, which was a relief as we were half tempted to ask 118.com (http://www.118.com/) if there was a closer service over in the UK. We ordered a couple lobster tails (yes, you heard right)! A pastry shaped like a lobster tail filled with custard cream and whip cream, which Buddy describes as an ice cream-like, the combination of a crunchy pastry and creamy filling is truly a heavenly bite!!! We did get other Italian cookies along with the lobster tails and then we were out the door. If you are ever in the neighborhood, you have to stop by! Grab a delicious pastry and enjoy the entertainment!! It’s definitely an experience you will never forget and who knows you may see yourself on the next episode!!
