Young girls ages 9-12 will find a friend in Clover Twig, the titular character in Clover Twig and the Magical Cottage, a children’s book that got excellent reviews when it was published this summer. The story follow responsible Clover as she winds up working for a witch whose cottage holds a wealth of secrets.
Written by English author Kaye Umansky and illstrated by Johanna Wright, the book received praise from outlets including the School Library Journal, which wrote, “Fans of Roald Dahl or Eva Ibbotson may enjoy discovering the secret of the magical cottage along with Clover.”
The book is available from Amazon, Powell’s, Macmillan, or Barnes and Noble.

What an adorable book! I loved Nancy Drew books and when I was younger,
Harry, The Dirty Dog was a book I really enjoyed.

My favorite book was Each Peach Pear Plum…I loved finding the characters! My daughter loves that book too now that she is three and old enough to find the characters!

Ooh, I’d love to give this to my niece! I’m not sure I can narrow it down, but my favorite books when I was growing up were the Baby-Sitters Club series, Matilda (Roald Dahl), and Superfudge (Judy Blume). Hmm, also Ramona Quimby, Age 8!

My favorite book growing up was “Where the Red Fern Grows”. A teacher read it to the class one winter in 4th grade.
