For years now, there have been countless protests to scientists testing products for humans on animals. I mean after all – who on earth would want to harm some of the sweetest creatures?
Shoppers have become more savvy as the years go by, and are constantly on the hunt for products that haven’t been tested on animals. Many manufacturers have become aware of this trend – which is a fabulous thing!
But how smart are we as consumers?
The most troublesome fact is that manufacturers get away with A LOT just by playing with words in their campaigns or placing certain labels on their products.
For example, how many of you knew that although many labels claim that they don’t specifically test on animals – it doesn’t mean that the manufacturer that put together their product didn’t.
However, if you are looking for companies that are compassionate towards animals the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) issued a “Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals” that they urge many manufacturers to sign this policy that agrees to not conduct or commission animal tests or use any ingredient or formulation that is tested on animals. Companies that sign this policy are able to use a leaping bunny logo as a sign of their dedication to the mission (as shown below).
Curious about what fabulous brands proudly display this logo? Check out the Coalitions shopping guide to find fabulous – animal safe products. You can also check out www.leapingbunny.org for more information.
