One of my very best friends is getting set to walk down the aisle really soon. After the wedding, she and her fiance will be jet setting to The Tides in Riviera Maya, Mexico for their honeymoon. This is a beautiful and secluded resort that is described as the seductive resort counterpart of being invited to an exclusive private villa and stunning spa. This hotel is located on the Playa Del Carmen white sand beaches that spread out for seven miles. After the craziness of planning their wedding…this is where they’ll get to relax while sipping Pina Coladas…

What Would Paul Bunyon Think? | December 28, 2009

Think twice before you throw that next log on the fire this winter.  You just might be burning good money.

I like rustic wood end tables with distressed painted wood and natural finished tops.  But here is rustic taken to an extreme.  Going green helps us appreciate our natural resources and sustain our environment.  These salvaged wood logs have been refinished and recycled into cool end tables.  I also like the added touch of combining the rustic wood with metal bolts.  Great by the sofa, chair or even to put your feet up on.  Paul Bunyon would be proud!

Exchanges, Returns…When Will it Ever End? | December 26, 2009

Any time I feel stressed I hear that old commercial from Calgon Bath Soaps…“Calgon Take Me Away”, can you hear it?

I don’t know about you but I already have two returns and one exchange.  I had to do the exchange before Christmas.  I bought my husband a history book and you would think out of the 1000’s of history books out there I could find one he didn’t already have, NOT!  Maybe he has too many!!!

I personally would not run out the door first thing on Saturday to do any exchanges or returns unless you absolutely have to for financial reasons.  … Read More »

Incredible India: Trains, Rickshaws and Automobiles | December 24, 2009

On our first full day in India, we headed to downtown Mumbai from our hotel in Vile Parle (which happens to be the neighbourhood where the “God of Bollywood” Amitabh Bachchan also lives).

Mumbai, one of the most populous cities in the world with a population of almost 14 million people, was a little overwhelming to say the least. I’ve always been an urban gal, but nothing could’ve prepared me for the sheer chaos of the intricate train system, the gutsy autorickshaws, the never-ending game of bartering down prices and the overall culture shock.

After some intense shopping where I picked up … Read More »
