Sacrifice | January 15, 2010

A few months ago I was asked to take part in a humanitarian relief project in Les Cayes, Haiti which was to begin on January 27th. It’s the essential oils found in cinnamon bark that foster the wellness and medicinal properties. Book Giveaway: Get Financially Naked | January 14, 2010

WHEN DID TALKING ABOUT YOUR MONEY BECOME MORE INTIMATE THAN SEX?

GET FINANCIALLY NAKED:

How to Talk Money With Your Honey

By Manisha Thakor and Sharon Kedar

When we are swept up in the arms of true love we are more likely to share our intimate desires than our credit rating. We spend less time discovering whether we’re fiscally compatible than discussing possible names of our future children.  Yet according to a 2009 report in the sociological journal Family Relations, marital conflicts about money were more pervasive, problematic, and recurrent than all other non-money … Read More »

Wine Cheese Bread | January 14, 2010

How about a little cheese with your wine? Bread that is.  I wanted something special to go with dinner so that’s what I baked today – Wine Cheese Bread and it was FABU! While it is a yeast bread, the end result is almost closer to a quick bread in texture.  This was an easy bread to make with few ingredients, like most bread.

You’ll want to combine the first four ingredients in a saucepan.  Cook over low heat until very warm. I usually gauge this by when the butter is just about all melted but you can measure that around … Read More »

D.C. Dining Spots | January 13, 2010

By now, you should know that two of my all time favorite things are travel and food! Having just returned from a trip to Washington D.C. to ring in the New Year with my family, I thought I’d share some of the great restaurants we checked out while we were there.

Pizzeria Paradiso has two locations in D.C.- one in Dupont Circle and one in Georgetown. It’s a great go-to spot for lunch or dinner if you are craving pizza!
Their pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven- so their crust is light, crunchy and delicious! A large pie will … Read More »

Tulips Regrets | January 13, 2010

I took the time this fall to plant tulip bulbs around the property of CdlV, with the hopes that Spring would breath new life into the landscape that (as of right now) was covered with feet of snow. I must have spent hours planting each one in groups with allium, and Peruvian daffodils, and snow drops only to see squirrels digging them up each day, carefully avoiding the daffodils. I regret not forcing them in the house this year, and now it looks like I’m too late.

Remember my orange tulips last spring?

Orange tulips are my favorite flower, hands down! I … Read More »
