“The CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain pen looks like a magic marker, but went on my lips like watercolor paint.”
As a Lucky Magazine Alpha Shopper, I have the privilege of working with Conde Nast Publications. Recently, Lucky’s Beauty Merchandising Expert sent me a new product by CoverGirl called Outlast Lipstain. The CoverGirl website describes Outlast Lipstain as “The water-based colorants of Outlast Lipstain give lips a beautiful, lightweight flush of color that won’t come off, lasting for hours without the heavy look or feel of an ordinary lipstick. Its pen-like precision applicator makes it easy to define your lips-just draw on color without any hassle!”
I received color #435 Flirty Nude. The name of this color definitely does not reflect the actual color of this product. I would call it more of a Strawberry Smoothie. The pen itself looks like a magic marker, but the product went on my lips like watercolor paint. I applied the Lipstain directly on my dry, chapped lips and it instantly felt like a wash of liquid. I had to be much more careful applying this product than I would a regular lipstick due to the fact that the pen tip was thin. I had to draw the product on my lips exactly as if I was using a fine tipped magic marker. I think I would have preferred a brush instead.
The color went on brighter than expected, but it quickly lost it’s intensity. A second coat probably was in order at that point. I did like the fact that it didn’t dry out my lips and the hint of color lasted quite awhile with no sticky mess. For evening, I would definitely have had to apply a gloss or lipstick over it for a bolder statement.
My recommendation of this product is “something to have in your handbag for a little splash of color. However, make sure you have a mirror and a steady hand.”

I just opened up my sister’s makeup drawer and found 10 of these in number 400. No kidding.
