A day with warmer temperatures and sunshine brings out a whole new attitude in people. After a very long winter with below freezing temperatures and snow fall amounts that broke all the standing records to date, the temperature outside hits 68 degrees and people rejoice! It’s almost an over-exaggerated jubilance in some cases, but a much needed boost to people’s psyche.
Some people think of New Year’s Day as a time for bringing change to their lives. Others mark holidays as yearly scheduled days for affirmation and reflection. Though not a specific date on the calendar, the first day the thermometer hits over 65 degrees, people celebrate life.
An overall sense of freedom, rebirth and optimism is experienced on the first warm day of the new year. Windows are flung open to invite the warm air to penetrate homes, cars and offices. Coats are left hanging in the closet and boots go unnoticed. Women start planning for pedicures as they release their feet from wool socks, hose and closed-toe shoes. People gather outside during their lunch hour to soak up the sun’s rays and college students grab lawn chairs to tan and study.
The first warm day after a cold winter brings balmy air, sunshine and a new feeling of vibrant energy to regenerate, renew and refresh!
