For the second year running Stacy London, Brooklyn’s own fashion expert and star of TLC’s ‘What Not to Wear’ hosted the American Cancer Society’s Pink and Black Tie Gala at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn on May 6th 2010. She was joined by an array of stars, including ‘The Real Housewives of New York’s’ Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, Miss Brooklyn, MTV’s ‘Downtown Girls,’ Shallon and Klo and TLC’s Carmindy Bowyer, who all came out to support the great cause.
This year’s Pink and Black Tie Gala was a fun-filled and stylish tribute to Brooklyn’s achievements on the big screen, honoring the “Legends and Luminaries” of Brooklyn, including writer/filmmaker Peter Hedges, who has contributed to Brooklyn’s rich entertainment, cultural and business communities.
More than 300 attendees, including corporate sponsors, business, philanthropic and social leaders, came out to Brooklyn’s Steiner Studios to show their support and take part in the live auction with celebrity auctioneer, ‘History Detectives’ Elyse Lura.

With a successful inaugural year accomplished, the Gala Committee challenged itself to raise $225,000 to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving efforts in research, education, advocacy and patient and family services. The Brooklyn Regional Office of the American Cancer Society will meet the complex and challenging needs of more than 3,400 families in the borough facing cancer this year with free, comprehensive services and referrals.
The American Cancer Society estimates that there were more than 1.4 million new cases of cancer in 2008, and nearly 570,000 Americans lost their battle with the disease. In Brooklyn alone, more than 10,000 residents will be diagnosed this year, and more than 4,000 will lose their lives. Cancer will directly affect one in three women and one in two men in their lifetime – and touch each of their families, friends, and colleagues along the way.

WTG Chic Galleria!
I support the American Cancer Society full fledged! Even my 2 year old is walking and taking donations this year–along with a pageant that is giving all proceeds to the organization!
