Perfect day to evening dress | June 21, 2010

One thing I know myself and many other women are constantly striving for in their wardrobes are versatile pieces that can be worn in many ways for different occasions. This not only helps us diversify our clothing options, but is easier on the wallet too!

I stumbled upon this gem of a dress by Rebecca Taylor on netaporter.com ($295) recently, and had to share it.

o me, this piece can be used in a variety of ways – adding value to your wardrobe and giving you a few ways to mix things up a bit! With leggings, tights, jeans, or bare legs, … Read More »

It’s Game Night…Do You Have All the Pieces?!?! | June 18, 2010

Our family loves Pizza and Game Night!  Nothing is worse than sitting down to a little pizza and setting up a game just to realize that you are missing a ”few” pieces to the game…kind of takes the fun out of it!

So let’s get these games under control and while we are at it get the cards and puzzles organized as well.

If you have a huge storage closet for games, you are so lucky!!  All I would say to you is categorize your games by age group, such as pre-school, teen or adult games.  Make sure you keep adult games … Read More »

On thing that has been a huge trend this summer is cateye shaped sunglasses. They are everywhere – both on the runways, on celebrities, and definitely now in the mass public.

Not always a favorite of mine, I have to admit, it took some time to warm up to them. However, I must say – I love them now! They come in so many shapes, sizes, and colours – and also at many different price points!

I stumbled upon this pair of cateye glasses on topshop.com and adore them! Love the pop of pink for the summertime (though … Read More »

Meditation: Catch and Release | June 17, 2010

By Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche

I once bought a shirt at the airport because I had been traveling a long time and was in need of a change. I found one in a nice deep blue color and put it on without looking closely at it. Then, when I was sitting on the airplane, I saw it had a fish on it along with a caption down the sleeve: “Catch and release.” I felt very good about that. It was like a message from the universe — somehow, I was wearing instructions for working with the mind in meditation. That … Read More »

Ask Tea Chick: Have a Headache? Try Tea! | June 16, 2010

Alisa: Hi TC!

I’ve heard of your ONO teas and was wondering if you have a tea made to help get rid of migraines or headaches? I can handle a little caffeine per day.
 Thanks so much!

TC: Hi Alisa!

Caffeine can cause a “rebound” effect – you take it to get rid of the headache, which goes away but then comes back worse than ever. If possible, try to eliminate all sources of caffeine from your diet. Although you may experience withdrawal symptoms for a few days, including headaches, it will be worth the temporary suffering.

Mint and ginger help with headaches, so here … Read More »

Summer is almost here and we are already feeling the heat. It’s time to make sure you have all the things you need for a summer vacation pool side or on the beach.

Having the usual items like the perfect swimsuit, cover up, oversize bag and sunscreen make for a great start. This summer, add a few more items to turn up the volume on your summer style.

How to Start a Neighborhood Playgroup | June 16, 2010

Ever hear the term It Takes a Village?  Well, it takes a village, a city, and neighbors from your left, your right and from across the street.

Have dreams of running an organized and hot to trot playgroup?

Child rearing today can be more challenging because parents are opting to have children later in life and have less energy, resources and experience.  Families take months off from work to care for their new baby, and usually one parent chooses to return back to work full time while the other stays home.

So can one family, or one parent really do it all?  Can … Read More »

Best Cleaning Tips or Tricks Anyone? | June 15, 2010

I know we all have simple cleaning tips to help us save time or money.  I thought instead of waiting until the official time of spring cleaning we could get a jump start and give each other ideas before March is here and it is officially spring cleaning.

I have three tips I like to use at my house.  The first one is going to seem really weird but it works!  If your dishwasher has hard water stains, use one to two packets of Kool-Aid Lemonade Flavor in your dishwasher.  Empty the packets into the soap dispenser and run the dishwasher … Read More »

Hunting The Elusive Snipe Called The Confident Woman | June 15, 2010

Growing up in Texas, I always heard about snipe hunting. For those of you who haven’t heard of a snipe hunt… well, let’s just say that it belongs in the same category with jack-a-lopes, cow tipping & the gold at the end of the rainbow. So, I thought it rather odd when a snipe hunt came to my mind the other day during a meeting. I was with a group of smart, successful women planning an event this week titled “The Confident Woman”. But when we looked up the definition of “confident”, it suddenly hit me that we might simply be … Read More »

Are Nanoparticles Safe??? | June 15, 2010

Are you confused about nanoparticles?  Here is a little help!!

In-organic filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) are often used in formulations in the nanoparticle range as this increases their spreadability and decreases the white hue left on the skin after application.  Nanoparticles are smaller than normal sizes, and are thought to penetrate into the skin better.  This means there is a potential for the chemicals that are in nanoparticles to fully absorb into the body.

Although a number of studies have concluded that in healthy skin these tiny particles are unlikely to cross the skin barrier and enter the system, concern … Read More »

Bag Envy | June 14, 2010

Purses are my weakness. It’s pretty serious. There isn’t a time when I stroll through Holt Renfrew, or any other boutique where my eyes don’t plant themselves on another purse that I “must have”.

So whilst browsing online, naturally I gasped when feasting my eyes on this gem – the Rocco mini Duffle Bag by Alexander Wang. In my opinion, Alexander can do no wrong. This bag is one that will go the extra mile in your wardrobe as the grey (a fabulous neutral colour) will carry you through multiple seasons.

Loving that this is a duffle bag, you can surely use … Read More »
