Sterling Silver or Gold: A Matter of Taste‏ | July 26, 2010

Many women struggle trying to decide between sterling silver or gold accessories. As with most trends in the fashion world, you’ll find jewelry designers who choose to work exclusively in one metal; however more and more designers are choosing to work in both when creating their collections.

Many of the pieces you’ll find in the marketplace of high-end hand-crafted jewelry will be made of sterling silver or gold filled metal. Gold-filled simply represents a process that bonds solid gold to a metal alloy. The gold will not wear off! This process allows the wearer to have all the benefits of pure … Read More »

Miami Fashion Week SWIM 2011: Aquarella | July 26, 2010

Aquarella opened their 2011 collection runway show with a flowing brown and yellow belted dress featuring a peacock print that complimented a matching bikini later in the show and also following the feather trend that seems so popular. Aquarella featured a variety of prints from peacock feathers, dip dye, geometric patterns and abstract animal prints. We also noticed a chain armband that was really great! During the show a model even removed her shoes, we’re not sure if it was supposed to simulate the relaxed nature of the collection or if her hurt were hurting! But the collection remained fun, … Read More »

Miami Fashion Week SWIM 2011: Marysia | July 26, 2010

Marysia Swim launched in 2007 out of Charleston, South Carolina has now hit Miami Fashion Week. Marysia just showed their 2011 Swim Collection opening the show with drummers. The beat continued as the models owned the runway in light, peachy creams and white bathing suits. The suits were accessorized with straw hats and simple pendant necklaces. A really light color palette can clearly still make a bold statement!

ModCloth Week: Velvet-ed Out Heel | July 24, 2010

This peep toe was nominated for the title of “Best Find of 2010,” but before we could confer the award, we had to make sure this heel was a fit candidate. So, we examined it from every angle – saw its T-strap topped by a crisscross, felt the plush texture of its subtly patterned black velvet, checked the security of its buttoned strap. Then, a committee of formal frocks, fascinators, textured tights, and shining accessories congregated to discuss the pump’s pairing possibilities, and decided that the … Read More »

Miami Fashion Week SWIM 2011: Lisa Maree | July 24, 2010

Lisa Maree showed along with Aquarella, Kooey and Lisa Blue this past Monday the 19th. Lisa Maree showed a fun and flirty 2011 swim collection featuring swimsuits in jewel tone blues and pinks along with more neutral beiges and cremes. While other designers were putting feathers a top models heads, this collection played with hats including large brimmed, pink sun hats to white sailor caps and even a black fedora. Lisa Maree seemed to favor the monokini more than any other designer. The models walked down the runway with long curly hair when possible for an overall leisurely yet sexy … Read More »

Miami Fashion Week SWIM 2011: Lisa Blue | July 24, 2010

Lisa Blue also showed her 2011 swim collection within a group show. This collection was probably the most interesting of them all. There seemed to be a lot of  trend spotting, incorporating trends that appeared in shows like Mara Hoffman and Kooey. The collection began with a tribal, ethic mood–models had their bronzed faces painted in Aboriginal styles and wore feathered head pieces. Some models walked the runway barefoot for an added ephemeral and tough effect. There was definitely a focus on prints whether it be the psychedelic, geometric prints at the beginning or the Renaissance prints of the Birth … Read More »
