Organizing the Dorm Room | July 27, 2010

One of the most important things to remember when you live in a small space or even a cubical at work is to build vertically.  Utilize your space from floor to ceiling.  If your college student is not tall enough to reach everything, invest in a step stool that collapses, so that they may utilize all of their space.

I love to use rolling carts (use with or without wheels)  to organize dorm rooms.  I have used several to stack on top of each other to make  a dresser, a make shift kitchen area to store silver ware, paper plates, pantry items and … Read More »

Winter in July: These boots are Made for Walking | July 27, 2010

I recently returned from a vacation in Australia and New Zealand.  I left in summer of June 2010 and arrived in the winter of June 2010; yes, going to the Southern Hemisphere does put a kink in one’s circadian rhythms, mind and body.  However, it did give me a chance to see a new view of people, fashion and life.

Let’s start with boots, boots, boots.  They were everywhere and in every height.  From ankle books with tights and leggings to thigh highs.  How about shorts, tights and boots all in one with a cute sport coat and scarf – yep, … Read More »

A Fabulous Night with Teresa Guidice | July 27, 2010

On July 22, 2010, I attended the book signing for Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Guidice.  She happens to be one of my favorite housewives on the show and when I heard she was signing books near my office I had to try and go. Although that show is filled with drama, it does have its family moments.

The family moments I love the most are the ones with Teresa. In the Season 2 premiere, we saw Teresa cutting tomatoes and making sauce while teaching her kids in hopes to continue that tradition. As an Italian-American, my mother did the … Read More »

Miami Fashion Week SWIM 2011: Kooey Swimwear Australia | July 27, 2010

Kooey Swimwear Australia’s 2011 swimwear collection hit the runways this Monday the 19th as part of a group showing. The collection was definitely inspired by the exotic and the edgy. Models walked the runway in feathered black strappy heels and continued to rock feather accessories such as a peacock feather headpiece, feather armbands, collars and feathered shoulder pieces. Purples, blues, reds and blacks were all part of the collections color palette with extremely versatile pieces from the traditional bikini to one-piece suits and a sheer, printed beach cover. We were surprised in a good way by this collection–this show did … Read More »

Men’s Spring/Summer 2011: Lanvin | July 27, 2010

Lanvin’s menswear has been know in the past for it’s loose, flowing silhouettes and fabrics. But, this season collection has a much more structured presence. The show begins with a few tailored black looks and transitions to include much more athletic fits with torso hugging knits and biker short-like bottoms. There is also a Bohemian influence in the collection with widely striped silk looks and head wraps. Texture seems to be the focus in the Lanvin Spring collection: sheer knits, intricate tweeds, embossed silk and patchwork pieces are all used. The tweed suits at the finish of the show are … Read More »
