Valentino Appeals to the ‘Twilight Generation’ | July 26, 2010

Haute couture for the girly vampire-lovers!  While Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli’s version of the couture house is far from the ideals set out by Valentino himself, it is certainly getting the attention of the young and discriminating.  With the twenty-nothings out in numbers at the fall couture collection show, aptly named The Dark Side of First Love, the couture house illustrated a youthful innocence with an all-too-familiar 19th century vibe. Lace, bows, short skirts, sparkly materials, and one model literally encageged in her wardrobe…if romantic melodrama were a couture collection, this would be it.  Chiuri and Piccioli … Read More »

Sterling Silver or Gold: A Matter of Taste‏ | July 26, 2010

Many women struggle trying to decide between sterling silver or gold accessories. As with most trends in the fashion world, you’ll find jewelry designers who choose to work exclusively in one metal; however more and more designers are choosing to work in both when creating their collections.

Many of the pieces you’ll find in the marketplace of high-end hand-crafted jewelry will be made of sterling silver or gold filled metal. Gold-filled simply represents a process that bonds solid gold to a metal alloy. The gold will not wear off! This process allows the wearer to have all the benefits of pure … Read More »

Miami Fashion Week SWIM 2011: Aquarella | July 26, 2010

Aquarella opened their 2011 collection runway show with a flowing brown and yellow belted dress featuring a peacock print that complimented a matching bikini later in the show and also following the feather trend that seems so popular. Aquarella featured a variety of prints from peacock feathers, dip dye, geometric patterns and abstract animal prints. We also noticed a chain armband that was really great! During the show a model even removed her shoes, we’re not sure if it was supposed to simulate the relaxed nature of the collection or if her hurt were hurting! But the collection remained fun, … Read More »
