Since launching her line,formerly Babette Epaulette, in October 2009, New York City based Accessories Designer Seville Michelle Anastos has been featured in over 100 online and print publications. Her latest designs, bamboo earrings wrapped in leather are being worn by singer Ciara and P Diddy‘s new band Dirty Money wore Seville Michelle’s earrings and epaulets at a major award performance. She‘s also designed custom accessories for Alicia Keys’ Freedom World Tour. Alicia has been seen wearing the accessories in Chicago and Toronto.
Seville Michelle‘s latest design endeavour re-visits the New York doorknocker, bamboo earring trend of the late 1980’s, originally made famous by female rap icons like Queen Latifah, Salt and Pepper and Mary J. Blige but more recently Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex in the City.
Seville Michelle has taken the earrings and wrapped them in leather, redefining the street look with which they have been associated. “I created the earrings out of a desire to continue wearing an accessory I wore growing up in NYC.” These earrings are all handmade my Seville Michelle and her staff of jewelry makers trained by her. Each pair takes a process of an hour and a half to create. and are available in many colors. The designer plans on exploring other material options.
