The Dress | October 26, 2010

The only commitment that can make a brides heart race faster than saying ‘I do’ is making the final decision on which dress to walk down the aisle in.

Being a wedding photographer, I have seen firsthand the love relationship between brides and their wedding dresses. I have witnessed what women will do physically to get into their chosen bridal gowns. Some of which things I have been seen, but not limited to are dieting, pushups (right before the wedding for great biceps), duct taped breasts, corseted, ‘Spanxed’, sewn in, and my favorite liquid BandAid, to reduce chaffing.

It is my job … Read More »

Crockpot Brunswick Stew | October 26, 2010

Now, many people say that Brunswick stew is not beef stew. Well, it’s not if you put barbecue pork and chicken in there! But as many barbecue people know, not grilling… but barbecue, Brunswick stew is just a better version of beef stew. This is one of my favorite Brunswick stew recipes because it’s quick, easy and can be made with ingredients you might have on hand right there in the kitchen.

Kent’s Crockpot Brunswick Stew

by Kent “The Deck Chef” Whitaker. Recipe from his Tennessee Hometown Cookbook.

Ingredients:

1 med onion chopped

1 small green pepper chopped

2 16oz cans crushed tomatoes

1 pound shredded BBQ … Read More »

Eye Makeup Trends for Fall/Winter 2011 | October 26, 2010

This image is from the Junko Yoshioka s/s 2011 fashion show at Trump Tower. I kept the look very glamorous, yet simple. Here are some big trends for makeup for fall/winter 2011, and most likely the trends will stay around for summer of 2011 (with some small modifications, of course.)

1. The biggest trend in makeup: focus on the lashes and the top eyeliner! In this picture I have individual false lashes on the model (mainly on the outer corner of her eye). I also used 3 layers of mascara (carefully applied) to really make the lashes look lustrous. I did … Read More »

Let Go Of The Past, Release Your Inner Happiness | October 26, 2010

Often times, I find myself looking back into my past relationships to reflect on what went wrong just for the sake of understanding what to avoid in the future. Lots of times, relationships end for reasons that can easily be avoided, and the friendships that could’ve remained when the smoke cleared have been destroyed. It’s good to reflect on the things that made one such a great guy, and one such a bad fit.

The pattern I came across while rummaging through my past relationship memory bank was that I never let go when I should’ve. Things would begin to be … Read More »

The History of Halloween | October 25, 2010

By Annette Martin

Halloween’s  birth began around 500B.C. in the area that is now Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland and France. Samhain,(Sow – en) fell at the end of October, and for the Celts it was a pretty unnerving time.  On Sow-en it was believed that the veil between the real and spiritual worlds was thinnest.  Therefore, it would not be unusual to see banshees or sundry spirits of the dead wandering about.

It also marked the Celtic New Year, the day of the end of the summer season, the end of the harvest, and the beginning of winter.  It may seem strange … Read More »
