Holiday Cookies: Küsse | December 16, 2010

By Dr. Susan Delaney

My great-grandfather, Gustav Hugo Schultze, was the baker for the White House. His bakery, Schultze’s, was on Connecticut Avenue. He would drive his horse and buggy up the circle drive to the White House and drop off baked goods that had been ordered the day before. Five generations of my family have enjoyed his recipes.

Küsse (Kisses)

Ingredients

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

2 cups flour

Today these metal gym baskets are vintage and in high demand. These baskets are great for storage in the home because they can hold just about anything. But I think I like these baskets best just stacked on top of one another with nothing in them. Sometimes you just have to make a statement. … Read More »

Ageless Beauty – 4 Tips to the Fountain of Youth and Keep Them Guessing! | December 14, 2010

“How old are you? You look really young.  You’re about 30? 35? I’ll wait until you get up from the table so I can see your body.  That will tell me.” (Personal Correspondence)

The above is what was said to me a few days ago while out with a group of girl friends.  Wow! First, I must say, thank you to my parents for the good genes!  Second, I am so very glad that I work-out regularly as I know that being physically active and eating food that is good for my body and soul (chocolate!) is the fountain of youth.  … Read More »
