When planning for a business trip or perhaps a relaxing vacation, you will need to pack items to take along with you on your trip. In order to do this, you must determine what size luggage you will need. For some, this can be a tricky question to answer. However, it’s really quite simple if you follow some basic guidelines.
If your trip will be overnight, then you need a smaller piece of luggage. A carry-on bag measuring about 22 inches in length is ideal. Many of these bags also come with wheels which make it a breeze to roll them around, saving putting any stress on your back. This bag can not only carry clothing but can also provide room for cosmetics. If flying, remember the rules for carrying bottles aboard the plane.
If the stay will be a bit longer, say for a long weekend, this piece of luggage will again work beautifully but you might want to fasten on an attachable tote for additional items. This makes it easy to wheel both items with just one hand. Many totes and even travel bags have outside pockets that allow you to easily stow extra necessary items.
If your trip will be longer, say perhaps a week, and then you will need a larger piece of luggage. A suitcase measuring around 25 or 26 inches would be ideal. This size can hold many changes of clothing, shoes, accessories and outerwear. Another benefit to selecting this size of luggage is that it will rarely exceed the maximum weight set by most airlines today.
Be sure to find out your airline’s specific policy as it may vary from airline to airline. Also, today’s luggage is typically more lightweight in an effort to help passengers not exceed the limit. This size of luggage would also work well if two people are sharing the same luggage for a long weekend trip. If you’re married or have a partner, then this would be a good size in which to invest.
