Why I hope that Harper Seven Beckham isn’t the new Suri Cruise | August 19, 2011

The first thing I tweeted on hearing about the birth of Harper Seven Beckham was that Suri Cruise now faced some serious competition. I regretted this almost instantly. Because of all the things I wish for that much longed for little girl, being another Suri Cruise isn’t one of them.

Suri Cruise, let me refresh your memory. According to UK Glamour readers, she is the 21st best dressed women in the world in 2011 (shame on anyone who voted for her!).  She has a shoe collection that includes Louboutins and Marc Jacob shoes and … Read More »

Duncan Stevens | August 18, 2011

From grand design to the refined, purified, and simply perfect

Jewelry designer, Duncan Stevens, came to where he is today through no traditional trajectory. Having trained in 3D Animation & Digital Design at Damelin, it led to a 6 year stint in the advertising industry in South Africa and then the UK. The ephemeral nature of the work created for advertising campaigns left him feeling despondent, so whilst in London, he sought other artistic avenues for expression. Approaching artisans in various disciplines; chandelier & lighting designers & goldsmiths, he secured internships at their studios during the day whilst running nightclubs at night, … Read More »

Perfecting Breakfast in Bed | August 18, 2011

How to Perfect Breakfast in Bed in Four Steps:

1.     Draped in Luxury: Start off by making sure she’s comfortable with a Seersucker Robe from Coyuchi, the first company to bring organic cotton bedding to the United States. Made from organic cotton, it starts out soft and only gets better with laundering, and like all Coyuchi products, these robes are produced using fair–labor practices, and are free of toxic dies, bleaches or finishes used in conventional textiles.

2.     Brunch Worthy Waffles: Breakfast in bed is a perfect way to say, “I love you, now please don’t get out of bed yet.”  Whip … Read More »

Do You Know Where Your Gnome Is? | August 17, 2011

I was minding my own business shopping for vintage metal chairs and there he was. He had a long white beard and a pointy blue hat.

Generally found outdoors in the lawn or garden, this gnome was hanging out with a pair of vintage industrial chairs. This gnome knows a good thing when he sees it. These metal chairs are vintage and they were originally used outside on the back patio. Exposed to the elements for many years, the paint on these chairs has worn off and been replaced with a great rust finish. It’s now time to bring these outdoor … Read More »

Men’s Fashion Autumn/Winter 2011: Relaxed Tailoring | August 17, 2011

Considering the up and coming fashion for suits is tailored, defined and fitted, the trend is almost the exact opposite for more casual wear. For fashion conscious men tired of squeezing into skinny jeans and tight tops, this will be ideal. Relaxed tailoring is just that, relaxed.

The elements of this easy to wear up and coming trend for 2011 are:

Seamless Shoulders: Lacking a stitch where the shoulder teams up with the sleeve, it gives a very casual look to sports coats and sweaters. As outerwear, the seamless shoulder had been incorporated to the season’s duffle coats and trenches.

Deep Shoulder Seam: … Read More »

New Beauty-at-Home Devices: Miracle of Fake Results? | August 16, 2011

I have to admit that I am terribly drawn to the wide range of devices that promise professional beauty results at home. And who wouldn’t? For a fraction of the prize that you normally pay for those services, you can own your own machine and save money by doing the treatments yourself.

I, myself, have tested some laser hair removal devices at home. My skin being delicate and with some beauty spots, I have finally decided to go to a professional for medical advice. But unfortunately not many people do so, and sometimes misinterpret the instructions or overuse the devices, which … Read More »
