The fashion world has been out en-masse these past few weeks. With Fashion Weeks everywhere from London to New York all eyes have been on the catwalks of the world’s leading designers and the most popular high street names. However, after the frenzy of Fashion Week, we must all come back down to earth with a bump and get on with what to wear this season. In the UK, inspiration comes from the massive collection of dresses at House of Fraser. Proving that dresses aren’t the reserve of spring and summer, House of Fraser … Read More »

Fall Meals: Roasted Red Pepper Soup | September 29, 2011
Roasted Red Pepper Soup
By: Robin Donovan and Juliana Gallin, authors of The Lazy Gourmet: Magnificent Meals Made Easy
Equally delicious served hot or chilled, this bright and rich soup is like late summer in a bowl. While red bell peppers can be had year-round these days, I highly recommend using only fresh, locally grown, ideally organic peppers and corn for this soup, and making it only during the height of the summer produce season. If you live in a hot climate and don’t want to heat up your kitchen in the middle of summer, blacken the peppers on a hot grill instead.

Stereotype Mindfully | September 29, 2011
By Alexander Chernev, Author of The Dieter’s Paradox: Why Dieting Makes Us Fat
Our food choices are clouded by our tendency to stereotype foods into virtues and vices and to rely solely on these stereotypes — rather than on the actual nutritional content — to select what and how much to eat. Stereotyping foods into vices and virtues polarizes our judgment, canonizing foods we consider healthful and demonizing foods we regard as indulgent. We can reduce this stereotyping bias by following these simple rules:
Beware of the “health” halo. Even those who know the difference between healthy eating and dieting are often … Read More »

Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus will sell the clothes inspired by Blake Lively and Leighton Meester’s characters, Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf, respectively. (Taylor Momsen’s style-addled and troubled role of Jenny Humphrey apparently didn’t make the cut).
It’s not the first time the show has inspired … Read More »

Identical twins To-Tam and To-Nya of SACHIKA brought an exciting collection to the stage at Elle360’s venue during fashion week. The show started with a bang—quite literally!
