Don’t book your plane ticket just yet. Virtually speaking, Roz from @RozFashionista and founder of CatwalkLive.TV, is passing out the opportunity to watch London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 collections via live stream feed. Though every designer’s show is not streamed live, there is enough that do to keep us well-informed of international women’s ready-to-wear fashion. Chasing after designers’ websites and Facebook accounts used to be the lot of those wanting to watch these shows. If a designer provided live stream at all, their announcement to do so could only be found by checking and rechecking their sites. Some do not get … Read More »
Why Age No Longer Defines Fashion | September 16, 2011
I have the same New Look dress as Rochelle from Uk pop group The Saturdays. Rochelle is in her early twenties, I am in my mid 30′s. Which begs the question – am I too old for this dress, or is the dress too old for Rochelle?
The answer, happily, is no on both counts. The days when shops had a clearly age defined audience have long gone, with mothers and daughters happily shopping in the same places, and sometimes buying the same things. Why is this now the case?
Part of the answer to this is that women, … Read More »
Color Blocking and Cutouts for BCBG Max Azria S/S 2012 | September 15, 2011
The moment I laid my eyes on this spring/summer ready-to-wear collection, I quickly noticed a similar color blocking theme to its prior fall/winter collection, making this somewhat of a carryover collection. That said, this collection is in no way last season’s collection. As the models began to make their way down the runway, the looks began with lighter neutral tones of tan and off-white with color blocks of butter and peach. About midway through, deeper neutrals like gray and black were blocked with third and fourth additions of deeper pigment colors like mustard, orange, slate blue, with some touches of … Read More »
Spring 2012 RTW Trends | September 15, 2011
The first week of New York Fashion Week has officially ended, but there are still more designers waiting to show their work of art. As more and more fashion blogs and magazines write up their show reviews, I felt inspired to share some of the trends that I’ve noticed so far.
Black and White
Yes, the black and white trend will probably never go out of style. Many top designers mixed in their black and white creations, and some used it throughout their entire collection. Here are some of my favorites.
Polka Dots
Of course, we are no strangers to polka dots by now. … Read More »
Clumsy? Cynthia Rowley Has You Covered | September 15, 2011
Are you a “name brand” kind of woman? Do you carry the “it” bag and the latest trends? Do you wear make-up while working out? Bandaid brand adhesive bandages teamed up with Cynthia Rowley to cover you when you need it the most!
After running from store to store on Fashion’s Night Out in high heels all night—my feet were killing me as I was breaking in a new pair of shoes. I saw an ambulance around the corner and to my surprise, it was decked out with the Cynthia Rowley logo.
The “Glambulance” was an excellent stop to make on FNO! … Read More »
The Kardashians take over Avril Lavigne’s Abbey Dawn Fashion Show | September 14, 2011
Several days before Avril Lavigne’s Abbey Dawn fashion show, there’s been a lot of discussion about it.
For some, it was simply over the fact that Avril Lavigne has her own clothing line. For others, they were more caught up with Kylie Jenner set to walk down the runway and the possible appearance of the Kardashian sisters at the show.
When I arrived at the Metropolitan Pavilion, there were paparazzi waiting everywhere. As I anxiously queued to be seated inside, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries walked in with hundreds of flashes going off behind them. Then shortly after, Kourtney arrived and was … Read More »

Boy Meets Girl by Stacy Igel @ Avenue | September 14, 2011
Styling her friends at the age of four, Stacy Igel was destined to be a fashion designer. Tonight her talent shined at her exciting fashion presentation sponsored by Elle360 Style Coalition at the trendy club Avenue in the Meatpacking district.
The Veronicas played live at the party hosted by Dwight Howard & Victoria Azarenka. Once the band started, models started playfully dancing and strut their “edgy yet wearable, stylish yet casually classic” Boy Meets Girl attire. The show was fun, exciting and a great brand that edgy, stylish women would want to wear.
After speaking with family members of Stacy’s, I learned … Read More »

Missoni for Target Is Going To Fly Off the Shelves Today | September 13, 2011
My twitter feed has been on fire since the release of this ad for the Missoni for Target collaboration early last month. In the ad, Margherita Missoni pulls her signature zigzag luggage while walking alongside a coordinated young man, pulling his own zigzag suitcase. All it took was a press from @MarilynAgencyNY (fashionologie) to make people loose their minds over all of the Missoni goodies to come from Target.
While following the pulse of the fashion industry, I have watched the New York fashion community continually and aggressively tweet their ravings about this upcoming launch. The same women that wear … Read More »

3 Tips to Trash the Mind Trash | September 12, 2011
I spend a great deal of time coaching women and there is often a recurring theme. Many of the women I coach end up with a similar conclusion. Their minds are stuck in past negative experiences which are showing up in their lives. How are they showing up?
Worry.
Unbelief.
Low self-esteem.
Lack of confidence.
Doubt.
Fear.
Those negative experiences have projected themselves from years past into the present and if continued they will significantly impact their future life. Many are operating with a faulty mindset and because of this mindset they use phrases like:
“I can’t.”
“I won’t.”
“I don’t.”
“I will never…”

Leanne Marshall’s Spring ’12 Collection | September 11, 2011
I’ve always been a huge fan of Leanne Marshall from Project Runway (Season 5), so there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to see a handful of elegant garments today. A fellow Brooklynite (shout out to Williamsburg!) continues to present her talent through breathtaking collections. Ever since her big-win in Project Runway, she quickly went back to making dresses to sell! It’s always good to see these up-and-coming designers work hard to pursue their dreams.
It is evident that Leanne’s feminine touch behind her Spring ’12 collection reflects her prior experience in designing costumes for ballet performances. The … Read More »
