Yes, Virginia, There Are Good Samaritans | December 28, 2011

Letter to the Editor

Amidst daily news of crime and corruption there also exist humbling acts of human goodness that too often go unreported. These invisible threads of hope interwoven throughout our community offer some of the best unexpected gifts we’ll ever receive.

A few months ago my husband dropped his wallet in a restaurant parking lot and didn’t realize he’d lost it until hours later. We drove back to the establishment to search for it but it was gone. The manager said he’d call us if anyone reported finding it, but we knew that was unlikely by then. When we got … Read More »

Young Energetic Dog Wants to Move From Crate to Bed | December 27, 2011

Dear Inquisitive Canine,

Hellooo, my name is Hazel and I have a question. I am an 18-month-old crazy retriever mix – a little Chessie, Golden and Lab all rolled into one.  I think I am pretty smart, and I am definitely cute. I have been crate trained, but want to move to a nice comfy bed without borders.

The problem is that my people aren’t sure I can be trusted not to chew things in the middle of the night, including wallets, cell phones, TV remotes and sunglasses. (And books because I LOVE paper). I’m also quite adept at standing on my hind … Read More »

Make 2012 the Year to Stop Enduring and Start Living the Life YOU Really Want | December 27, 2011

2011 is drawing to a close and, for many recession-wracked American women; it feels like just another mile marker in an endurance race going nowhere. Depressing, but true. We trudge through the week at a dreary job, drive home fretting about money, and spend our evenings robot-walking through the usual haze of homework battles and half-finished chores. Passion and fulfillment? Nope, just sheer survival. And the worst part is, most of us have meekly accepted that this is how it has to be right now.

Buck up, girlfriend! You can do a lot more than (barely) get by—and 2012 can be … Read More »

Skindinavia Moisture Lock Makeup Setting Spray giveaway | December 26, 2011

Skindinävia was founded in 2005 with the sole purpose of creating products that would keep makeup looking fresher. Our revolutionary “Makeup Finishing Spray” was originally used on movie sets in Hollywood, so makeup artists could have fewer touchups through long days of filming. Unlike makeup settings sprays of the 1970’s and 80’s, which were “hairspray for the face” or “shellac”, our mists are virtually weightless and look completely natural.

Skindinavia invented the makeup finish as a simple way for women to keep their makeup looking flawless all day. Each spray uses our patented Temperature Control Technology® which prevents makeup from melting, … Read More »
