Fall Meals: Smoked Salmon Crostini | December 14, 2011
Smoked Salmon Crostini with Lemon Dill Aioli
By: Christianne Klein, author of Christianne’s Herbal Kitchen: Fresh Herb Recipes for Body and Soul
This is an awesome appetizer for parties. The lemon dill aioli melts right into the toasted bread and gives you a savory flavor. I usually tone down the garlic and kick up the volume on the lemon, but the choice is yours. Adjust it to your taste and make it your own creation!
Ingredients:
Lemon Dill Aioli
1/2 garlic clove, mashed
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons fresh dill, minced
Sea or Himalayan salt to taste
Freshly cracked … Read More »
Chic Style Tuesday: Pink Glam Rock | December 13, 2011
This is seriously one of my favorite outfits for a Tuesday. I call it, “I can’t decide if I want to be girlie, hipster, rocker or what” day. So I just combine them all! I layer the bracelets on one wrist and the sleeves of the striped tee stick out from under the sweater. I sort of tuck in the front of the tee so you can see the belt, but I let the back hang out untucked.

Boatneck tee, $176 (Similar BCBGMAXAZRIA at Zappos $80.99)

New York City’s Sample Sales Tips | December 12, 2011
December is the season for sample sales in New York City and many New Yorkers like myself can get almost any designers’ clothing, handbangs, shoes at a major discount off the retail price! There are different ways to find out about these sales but most of the time, they are very hush-hush. While most people were on their way to work this morning, I hurried over to Fifth Avenue to check out Diane Von Furstenberg’s sample sale. Luckily, the line was manageable and the crowd was less intense because today was opened exclusively to DVF’s friends and family.

Is it Time to Update your Underwear? | December 12, 2011
By Elizabeth Tigar
Ladies, let’s face it. We’re all guilty of holding on to things for years. That favorite shirt. That pair of jeans you KNOW you’ll be able to fit into again. A beloved dress. And the same holds true for our skivvies. We just can’t let go of that favorite pair. While some things in our closet can count as “classics,” your lingerie isn’t one of them. Consider this an intervention. Vintage t-shirts are one thing, but vintage undies? Oh. No. Chances are you’re hanging onto pieces that are way past prime, and your lingerie drawer could use some freshening. … Read More »

Plastic Beauty – Cosmetic surgery developments of the last decade | December 8, 2011
At one time, cosmetic surgery was the preserve of the especially vain and wealthy. Most ‘plastic’ procedures were treated as a taboo of sorts and the majority of ordinary people could neither afford nor contemplate having their bodies sculpted by surgeons. A lot has changed over the past half century, however and in the last decade alone public opinion has warmed to the idea of cosmetic surgery; in fact, cosmetic surgical procedures, the likes of which are carried out every day by The hospital Group, are not merely considered normal; they are wholly desirable.
Although statistics can be misleading, crunching numbers … Read More »
A Big ‘But’ | December 8, 2011
What do you want out of life? Have you any idea? I’m surprised by the staggering number of people who’ve reached ‘a certain age’ and are still clueless about how to create their own little slice of fabulosity.
I say ‘create’, because we do have the power to accomplish anything. It takes clear intentions and a lot of work, sure, but if you’re willing to tackle the tasks and step out of your comfort zone, you might surprise yourself at just how much you can accomplish.
I find the biggest obstacle with most people is that they simply have A Big But:
