I walked into The Stage at Lincoln Center for MBFW with the other spectators on Friday—expecting fully for a runway show of Concept Korea’s style collaborative. This show ended up being a not-so-traditional runway, but a presentation. Music blasted as models walked out from behind stage single-file, one by one, into their standing positions on their designer’s designated stage. Everyone in the room seemed to have a look of wonder on their face—as I am sure I am not the only one not expecting this non-traditional presentation. We weren’t quite sure what to expect next! It was exciting to see how the presentation panned out.
Concept Korea consists of 5 designers selected to represent the Republic of Korea, with the goal of promoting their global fashion content and assist Korean emerging designers to build business in overseas markets for Autumn/Winter 2012 season. lines were all very unique and had their own individual styles and twists, from a gorgeous feminine line to a strong menswear edge—Concept Korea had it all! Designers featured were Lie Sang Bong, Doho, Son Jung Wan, Resurrection by Juyoung, Steve J and Yoni P.
