Worry.

Unbelief.

Lack of confidence.

I spend a great deal of time coaching women and there is often a recurring theme. Many of the women I coach end up with a similar conclusion. Their minds are stuck in past negative experiences which are showing up in their lives. How are they showing up?

Worry.

Unbelief.

Low self-esteem.

Lack of confidence.

Doubt.

Fear.

Those negative experiences have projected themselves from years past into the present and if continued they will significantly impact their future life. Many are operating with a faulty mindset and because of this mindset they use phrases like:

“I can’t.”

“I won’t.”

“I don’t.”

“I will never…”

A mindset of can’t, never will and those with an attitude of won’t, don’t. It’s just that simple. Can’t is a deception of your ability and won’t is an attitude. You have deceived yourself when you begin to think that you can’t be who you have been created to be. You are acting as if you are incapable of being confident, secure and empowered. Those negative scripts you continuously play in your mind have set you up to actively defeat, discourage and sabotage every plan designed for your life.

Where the mind goes the rest is sure to follow. What you think about is so vitally important. What you think about impacts how you think about your life, your attitude and your circumstances. There is scientific evidence what you think about, dwell on, meditate on and focus on will manifest itself in your life; whether good or bad.

It is way past time to get your mind out of the gutter. Stop allowing your mind to be used as a garbage can. No longer hoard junk and mess in your head. Clean it out.

Think of your mind as a receptacle – container of past, present and future information. Now imagine a garbage can, a receptacle for trash, old food and unwanted items. Whatever you don’t want you do what with it? Throw it in the trash – the garbage. Why? Because after a while it smells, gets moldy and it has no further use. Then after a while you take the garbage out so it is properly hauled off and carried away from you and your home.

Now go back to your mind being a receptacle. Think about the things you are holding onto in your mind that is causing you to have stinking thinking. Those negative thoughts and experiences which have become smelly, moldy and have no use. Your mind “smells” to the point where all that garbage is spilling out into your life, your business and your relationships. You are full of worry, fear, doubt and unbelief. But you have the responsibility to make the change. You have the capacity to trash the mind trash, get your mind out of the gutter and have all that mental garbage hauled off out of your mind and removed from your life.

How? How can you get rid of the thinking that has plagued you and your life for so long? How can you get beyond those negative experiences which have dominated you to the point where you get no results?

Here are three ways to get your mind out of the gutter and live the life you dream about.

Set the intention about how you intend to think about your life, your business and your relationships. Intentionally change your attitude. Replace those negative sabotaging scripts with positive and empowering thoughts and words. Decide that you will no longer live out of those past negative experiences. Make a choice to respond differently to situations and circumstances.

Pay attention to what you are thinking about. Find the root of your thinking. Why do you think the way you think? How did you get here? Why are you operating from a place a defeat, worry and negativity? What is compelling you to give up? How are those past experiences showing up in your present circumstances and how will they impact your future self? Create a journal to answer those questions and then monitor your thoughts.

Renew your mind, daily. Mind renewal is not a one-time event, but it is a daily and consistent plan of action. Life happens and situations come. But it is imperative to constantly and regularly renew your mind to rid it of those toxic thoughts and negative situations. You cannot afford to let any negativity creep in and stink up your mind. Meditate on what’s good, perfect and lovely that is planned for your life.

You are responsible for your mind. You are the gatekeeper. Your thoughts are creative and powerful. You have the power to create the life you dream about. Your thoughts create words. Those words become actions. Those actions become results – outcomes. Those outcomes create the experiences in which you live on a daily basis.

When you trash the mind trash and get your mind out of the gutter by changing your thoughts, then you will without a doubt change your life.

Has the reality of divorce set in and you feel overwhelmed by its loss? Are there nights that the pain is so deep that if you could, you would reach within yourself and snatch it out?

The “D” word is sometimes a sign of failure, grief, crushed hopes and damaged dreams. Divorce somehow finds its way into the lives of many without want or provocation. The reality of the effects of divorce can stop an individual dead in their tracks, preventing forward movement or progression. But right here and now we are going to learn “How to Dance After Divorce”.

I guess you may be wondering why dance? Dancing is an expression of freedom. You can create your own rhythm, your own tune and your own steps. Dancing is liberating and requires movement. You aren’t dancing unless you are moving.

Movement is a key to getting past the pain of divorce. In order to get to the next phase of your life you have got to move. You really don’t want, nor can you afford to be stuck because your dream marriage has ended. You are still living and in spite of roadblocks and detours, life is about progression. Forward movement.

Are you ready to dance? Here are 5 goals to help you get moving.

1) Build Your Faith: Use this time of transition to build your faith. Faith is belief even without seeing. It allows you to walk in the hope that everything will work out for your good and that regardless of the situation you will come through triumphantly. You must believe within yourself that this is not the end, but the beginning of the next phase of your life.

2) Find Your Voice: Sometimes marriage can stifle or muffle your voice. Women often times walk in the shadow of their spouses. Sometimes known as John’s wife or Katie’s mom. But now, you can find your own voice. How do you find it? You can resurrect your dreams, create a goal based life plan, start a blog or even write a book. There are many avenues available to give life to your voice. Find your voice and speak boldy.

3) Re-kindle Your Inner Fire: It is on purpose that this is next. Your inner fire is the passion on the inside of you. That burning desire to make something happen in your life and in the life of others. Re-ignite the passion which may be burning dim or it could have been reduced to smoldering amber. Your passion is there waiting for you to set it ablaze to burn like never before.

4) Forgive. Forgive. Forgive.: There is nothing that is as relentless and can stalk you more than the memories of your past. Everywhere you go and everywhere you are your past follows you. Lurking and waiting to remind you of things gone wrong in your life. Unfortunately, you aren’t physically designed with a memory switch to turn off the memories of the past. But a powerful tool you can use is forgiveness. Forgiveness is a process which can help you to move past the past. Remember that forgiveness includes not only the forgiveness of others, but of yourself, as well. Forgiveness is cleansing and allows you to be released from the pain of your past and releases others from haunting you in your future.

5) See Your Future and Move Forward: Now that you have cleared the path, you can see your future and move forward with clearer direction, vision and purpose. Move into the time and space where you can live your dreams, share your passion and reach your full potential.

It’s time to dance baby dance!

This is no ordinary new year. It is the beginning of a new decade. Not just the dawn of a new year but chronologically the start of the second decade of the new millennium. What a great time to wipe the slate clean and begin or begin again. Reset the ten year clock and plan your dreams. Think BIG (Bold Imaginable Goals).

A part of thinking BIG may require you to make a shift in your mindset. If your goals and dreams are quickly and easily attainable it could be time for you to think and dream even bigger. Give thought to some of those dreams and goals you have labeled impossible. Think about why you have deemed them impossible. Is it because of resources, lack of support or your own personal beliefs and limitations? Could it be that in your exploring you haven’t considered all the possibilities for bringing your dreams to life? Now is the time to be honest and transparent with yourself about why you have not manifested your dreams.

Shifting your mindset opens the door of options which you may have thought to have been closed. Use those thoughts to expand the visual images of your dreams. Think about the goals you could reach if there no limits. Take off the limits and think about the dreams you could reach if you knew you couldn’t fail. Close your eyes and see yourself two, five, ten years from now. What do you see? What sounds do you hear? What does your daily regime look like? Capture those images in your mind. Think outside of your comfort zone because comfort is the enemy of achievement. Describe those feelings by writing positive goal statements.

This is no ordinary January. Think the change you want to see in your life and use those thoughts to build a solid goal plan. Have that visual? See where you want to go? Now spend time developing a plan including goals, mile markers and celebrations. Have fun with it.

You don’t have to use an ordinary approach to reach extraordinary goals. If you really want to inspire yourself create a goals video. Gather images, quotes and music that represent your goals and create a 3-5 minute video. This serves a couple of purposes: 1) It gets your creative juices flowing and gives you some momentum for reaching your goals. 2) When life happens and you are off track from your goals take a few minutes and watch your vision video.

Here are five steps to help you live your Bold Imaginable Goals:

Select your goals

Plan your goals

Schedule your goals

Execute your goals

Celebrate significant goals

I would love to receive feedback about other ways you may plan your goals. There are so many options for planning goals and it is very important to determine which method works best for you. We all can be sources of information, solutions and ideas. All we need to do is share.
