Dreaming of Marc Jacobs

March 5, 2010

Marc Jacobs recently showed his Fall/Winter 2010 collection at New York fashion week. The entire collection was absolutely stunning. MJ, who is normally known for the multitude of layers and colours in his collection – displayed a more whimsical and softer side.

His pieces were a multitude of neutrals in varying shades of grey, camel, tan, black, navys and creams. Instead of the collection being one that defines “trends” for the season – the collection was amazingly filled with more classic pieces wrapped up in the most beautiful fur coats and cardigans.

While the silhouettes may have been more classic, the materials … Read More »

Hair Rut?

February 18, 2010

In my line of work, there is one piece of everyone’s image that everyone always seems hesitant to change – their hair. Hair is an extension of our fashion sense, personality and lifestyle – it shows who we are!

It’s so much fun to play with – you can choose different colours, styles, and cuts to reflect the various moods we all go through on a day to day basis.

I find however, many women today get stuck in the “hair rut”. They become comfortable with a style they’ve had for ages – and never change it. Either that, or they keep … Read More »

Wartime Glamour

February 10, 2010

I love runway shows – they are like art in motion for me. When I watch them, it’s like I’ve been sucked into another world for just a moment. The lights, the music, and the beautiful garments put me in awe – and emotional reactions to some of the shows have taken place.

I’ve been creeping WWD lately and have been sneaking a peak at some of the designers pre-fall 2010 collections. I must say – I have been drooling appropriately. However, one I’m particularly taken with is the Christian Dior collection.

John Galliano is a designer that can do … Read More »

Individual Style

February 5, 2010

I love style. I find it to be such a personal reflection of who we are as individuals. I just love it when I’m walking around town and stop in awe over someone’s fashion appeal.

When I see people truly owning who they are – no excuses – and reflecting that in the way they carry themselves – it’s magic. I almost feel I understand a little bit about that person and what their likes or dislikes may be – or, at least I find it fun to imagine.

There are so many people out there that search magazines, celebrity tabloids, and … Read More »

Squash Office Gossip

February 2, 2010

It’s no secret that our places of employment can be not only a place of enjoyment, but one that can also inevitably lead to stress as well. As business individuals, we’re all constantly striving for our best, while competing with others that are also doing the same. Not only this, but most of us have deadlines to meet, and clients to interact – all of which are expected to be done with a smile and outstanding service.

But no matter how distinguished many business individuals claim themselves to be – there are so many businesses that succumb to the unfortunate mishaps … Read More »

Fashion Crimes – the Uggs

January 7, 2010

I’m all for comfort – I think that in order to feel stylish, you have to feel comfortable while doing it!

However, there is a “trend” with women that needs to stop – Ugg boots and sweat/yoga/pj pants.

I’m not really sure how this look surfaced, but it’s awful. It makes everyone’s legs look stumpy and wide. It’s almost like someone out there was trying to go for a “sloppy/student chic look” – as if there could ever be such a thing.

There are pictures I took from this past weekend of this “trend” on my blog – Horrifying.

Pairing exercise pants, or … Read More »

Make Your Clothing Last!

January 5, 2010

Adding beautiful pieces that you love to your wardrobe is essential in helping you feel chic and confident. Making sure you take care of your beautiful pieces is a must in ensuring they last. Here are a few simple tips to help you out:

Have a look on the tags of each of the garments that you purchased and see what the manufacturer recommends for taking care of each garment. You’ll definitely want to take that into consideration. I do recommend using wash products that are more “eco friendly” as they are not only better for the environment but will also … Read More »
