Tips from Celebrity Makeup Artist Christopher Drummond:

“There are many different kinds of false lashes: strips, individuals, and partials are the most used. Generally strips are the easiest, and individuals are the most complicated to apply. When appling falsies, remember this: practice makes perfect. Nobody ever did it right the first time. It takes patience to learn how to do it properly. And also, perseverance!!!”

I learned how to apply individuals before I learned strips. This way, it was much easier to learn to apply strips. To me, individuals are actually easier, because you are dealing with a smaller area, and if you mess up, you pull it off and start again. Strips stress me out!!!! Individuals are a breeze!

My biggest tip: anchor your hand. Place your hand on your cheek, or place your elbow on the table, so that your hand is steady. If your hand is floating in mid air, there is a lot more room for mistakes!!!

Tips for Strips: apply a small amount of glue to the lashes, and let it dry for a short period of time before applying to the lashes. Get the strip as close to the lash line as possible. Use a tool to help you push the falsies into the proper place.

Start with the inner corner of the eye, and go out to the outer corner. I actually anchor the inner corner, then the outer corner, then I work on the rest of the strip that is in between.

Tips for individuals: Be sure you anchor your hand. Don’t use too much glue. And try to get the base of the falsie as close to the base of the natural lash line as possible. After positioning it, make sure it is pointing in the right direction.

Tips for Both: Apply a strip that is rather thin and sparse. There is nothing worse than drag queen lashes when you are trying to look glamorous. Then, fill in the outer corner of the lashes with individuals. This will look naturally gorgeous, and also make your eyes look like you just had a eye tuck, by pulling them out and up!!!

Hey Christopher, My name is Dee and I’m from the UK.

I haven’t used your make-up yet, but it seems really convincing. I love watching your videos and have got a better idea about your products. But I just wanted to ask you a quick question: I had eczema when I was a child and now I have grown out of it, but I do still break out on my face with eczema if I use the wrong product- I have used mineral make-up like sheer cover and bare minerals but they have dried my skin out and my eczema came back a little on my face as I was allergic to some of the ingredients. I have also wasted so much money trying different make-up. I just wanted to know if it’s safe to use your make up on eczema prone skin?

I really hope it is as I have tried a lot of mineral make and it doesn’t work for me whereas yours sounds different as its organic and also you don’t put them ingredients in that dries out my skin. I think it will work for my skin. But I just wanted to ask for your opinion before I buy your products.

Thank you so much for your time and effort. I’ll be looking forward to your response. Dee

Oh by the way I have learned a lot from your videos, about what to use and what not to use in products.

A: First, because of the unique properties in our products, I can tell you that we are not considered a traditional “mineral makeup”. Because of the fact that we don’t have titanium dioxide, zinc oxide or bismuth Oxychloride in our formulas, it makes our products very different than products like Sheer Cover. Many mineral makeup companies use inexpensive ingredients like bismuth Oxychloride as a filler (also zinc oxide and titanium dioxide). These ingredients have a tendency to irritate many people’s skin.

The reason for creating a product free of these ingredients is for people like you. Since we know these three ingredients are irritants, we have taken them out. This means the face products should cause you no irritation at all. Also, because of the fact that I am a licensed esthetician, I took many pains to make sure that the products would work on all skin types.

You can always order a sample at www.christopherdrummond.com to see if the products will work for you. However, I am convinced that you will not have a problem with our products. They are the highest quality, thoroughly tested on all skin types, and we have not received any complaints about irritation in the year and a half that we have been selling.

You may also want to try the Christopher Drummond Beauty concealer. Since the main ingredient is Shea Butter, it will be very soothing to the skin. This ingredient has been used for thousands of years on many skin irritations, and is wonderful in helping to heal the epidermis.

Again, thanks so much for your inquiry, and please let me know if you have more questions.

Christopher

I know, you have champagne tastes on a beer budget. Don’t we all. Well, we here at Christopher Drummond Beauty believe that you can still be fabulous and still be efficient with your beauty dollars. Here are a few tips:

1) Multi task. Use one product for multiple uses. Saude Pele Radiance Booster for instance. A product like this can be used in many ways: as an eyeshadow base, a highlighter on the cheek bones, mix it with clear gloss to boost up the look of your lips, mix it with your moisturizer, and even mix it with your hair gel to add extra oomph! This one product has over twenty beauty uses (that we know of!!!!)

2) Create your own tinted moisturizer. Take your powder foundation (Veludo Velvet Foundation from Christopher Drummond Beauty works great) and add about a teaspoon to your facial moisturizer on the back of your hand. Mix it up. Voila! You have a tinted moisturizer made of your favorite moisturizer and your favorite foundation.

3) Use one product all over. Just because a product is labeled as an eye shadow doesn’t mean you can ONLY use it on the eyes! Try it all over: eyes, cheeks, lips…wherever you want a little color. Here’s another tip, use your shadow or blush wet, and it can become a great liner!!!

4) Powder foundation wet. I was at a shoot the other day, and realized I had NO CONCEALER. So, I improvised. I took my Veludo Velvet Foundation, added some cream to it, and it worked brilliantly as a concealer. The model never knew the difference. The great thing about powder foundation is that it is so versatile…try it!!!

5) Eye liner as Mascara. Another shoot I realized that I didn’t have mascara (how does a makeup artist not have mascara?) anyway, I took my cream eyeliner, applied it to a liner brush, and used it on the lashes. It didn’t extend the lashes, but it made them black and glossy….they looked great!

6) Mascara as eyeliner. I once needed a waterproof eyeliner, and (surprise) didn’t have it. But I DID have a waterproof mascara. I rubbed the mascara wand on my hand, took my liner brush, dipped it on my hand where the mascara was, and had a great waterproof liner!!!!!!!
