Just five short years ago, if you told someone you wrote on a blog and had followers, their first reaction very well might have been ” what is a blog, and where are these people following you too “?

Fashion Blogging is an ever evolving medium, in which hundreds of thousands of people communicate every day. Bloggers are now working hand in hand collaborating with companies, advertising products, hosting blog giveaways to readers, and some are even being showcased in major fashion Look Books.

Just how glamorous is the life of a fashion blogger? Are they pining away on their laptops eighteen hours a day having forgone a 9-5 job? Are they constantly shopping for the seasons newest clothing & accessories?, and most importantly, do they always look fabulous?
I can only speak for myself when I answer all of the above questions with…………I wish!

Becoming a fashion blogger, in my opinion, has far more pros than cons. It can open you up to an awesome community of like minded people, who share your passion for fashion.

Pros:

1. Having your voice heard all over the world!

2. Interacting with hundreds of people who share your passion. Link your blog to a Facebook fan page & Twitter account.
The opportunities to connect with others are endless.

3. Gaining friendships with fellow bloggers & readers. Visit other blogs that interest you. Be sure to respond to any reader comments left on your blog to keep the conversation rolling!

4. Join blog hops, and participate in features sponsored by other bloggers.

5. Working with companies you believe in & love. Don’t be afraid to send an email to companies you admire. They may be interested in working with your blog as well.

6. Being able to express your personal “fashion sense” in outfit posts. You may even sharpen up your photography skills!

Cons:

1. Be prepared to spend many hours writing blog posts, editing & uploading outfit photos, & visiting other blogs.

2. Have thick skin. Most bloggers, from time to time have received a negative comment or two. Don’t take it to heart!

3. Stay away from the “cattiness”.  Whenever you get a large group of people together, there will always be a “popular club”. Those posting more, having more blog followers & receiving more comments.

Blogging for me, is not about the number of comments or followers. I would much rather have fewer followers who actually read what I write, than many who could care less. Stay true to yourself & to your blog.

Your blog is just that, Yours. It can evolve into something pretty terrific. Like most things, what you put into it, is what you will get out of it. Nurture it, and you will see it grow daily.
