Manic Monday: Black, White, and Chic All Over

This skirt is too cute for words! You don’t necessarily have to wear it with black, either. If you’re feeling a little edgy, you could pair this skirt with a bright neon blouse to change things up a bit. Besides, neon is a huge hit right now! That would also be why I chose the clutch. The color would literally pop against this outfit! As for jewelry, keep it a little more simple by pairing this gorgeous porcelain and stainless steel link bracelet by Penelope Poet (available in black or white) and these stunning Vince Camuto earrings! And, since it’s Monday, throw on these black Steve Madden pumps. Mondays are hard enough as it is without foot pain being added to the mix. Speaking from my own experience, these pumps are super comfortable.

The star-studded Awards gala, which will be hosted by television and film actress, Jane Lynch, will take place on the evening of February 21, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Her next onscreen appearance will be in the sci-fi action remake Total Recall, due for release in the summer of 2012.

In honor of LACOSTE Creative Director Felipe Oliveira Baptista and the renewed focus on its women’s collections, the brand has dubbed 2012 the ‘Year of Woman.’ Inspired by the creativity, energy and enthusiasm that costume designers bring to their unique and important work, LACOSTE has invited a group of 20 to “re-imagine” the iconic LACOSTE polo shirt for women. Participating costume designers include: Amy Westcott, Ane Crabtree, Arianne Philips, Carol Ramsey, Ellen Mirojnick, Erin Benach, Jill Ohanneson, Julie Bennett Moss, Karen Patch, Kirston Leigh Mann, Sal Perez and Wendy Chuck.

Their inspiring and innovative creations will be showcased at the reception of the Costume Designers Guild Awards on February 21, 2012 and will ultimately be auctioned off to benefit a charity partner of the Guild.

This week, Macy’s launched its latest designer collection, a collaboration with fresh fashion talent Doo-Ri Chung. Featuring doo.ri’s iconic draping and love of lightweight knitwear and mixed fabrications, the “doo.ri for Impulse only at Macy’s” collection will be sold in approximately 185 Macy’s stores nationwide and on www.Macys.com.

“This capsule collection has allowed me to reach a wider audience, and that is exciting for me,” said Doo-Ri Chung. “I want to dress a modern woman, and if I can give her a different price point then that’s great! The collection is feminine, wearable and definitely Doo.Ri!”

The doo.ri capsule reflects the designer’s signature styling and treasured craftsmanship that have made her an instant success. With modest, yet fascinating details, from the choice of fabric to her signature draping, the doo.ri collection is a fusion of sumptuous and collectible pieces that can easily transition from day to night.

Priced on average from $39-$159, the collection will feature soft fabrics, art-inspired prints and feminine silhouettes, all grounded in blues and greys with red, black and orange infused throughout. Statement outerwear, short and maxi length dresses, sweaters and cardigans, knit and faux leather mixed skirts and leggings and great blouses are each stand out pieces that can be worn alone or mixed together. Offering a sneak peek at spring, the “doo.ri for Impulse only at Macy’s” collection combines collectible pieces that are modern, versatile and wholly feminine, representing a woman that is effortlessly chic.

Doo-Ri Chung has quickly established herself as a designer whose work is admired as much for its beauty as for its technical brilliance. Since launching her signature collection in 2003, Doo.Ri has made her mark as one of the leading lights of the next generation of great American designers. Following graduation from the prestigious Parsons The New School of Design, she worked with the legendary Geoffrey Beene for five years and rose to the position of lead designer.

During her tenure, she honed her gifts for sinuous draping and technical precision that have become the hallmarks of Doo.Ri design. The brand rapidly found critical and commercial success in the densely populated New York design community. Within a year of launching her label, Chung was named as a finalist in the first-ever Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF) and was prominently featured in the Douglas Keeve film “Seamless,” which documented the challenges and triumphs of three talented designers with growing businesses. By 2005, she had been inducted as a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and in 2006 won the Samsung Fashion Design Fund Award, CFDA Swarovski/Perry Ellis Award for Emerging Design Talent and the CVFF grand prize. In that same year, she also became the first American designer to be nominated for Switzerland’s Stella Award.
