When designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka informed the fashion world that they were implementing more shape and structure into their designs, who knew the silhouette they had in mind would be so brilliant. The two masterminds behind well known brand Badgley Mischka debuted their new Spring 2012 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York earlier this week on the 13th of September. The brand is well known for their beautiful flowing feminine styles, however this collection boasted of a more structural style, complete with a beautiful color palette, and lots of bows.

Popular transitional fabrics, such as chiffon and jersey, graced the runway, as models donned many dresses that resembled the Stepford Wives look with a stylish twist. The collection boasted of extreme femininity, and consisted of many styles that could easily be worn off the runway. The colors were that of beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and rich hues such as turquoise, nectarine, and jewel tones. Brocade and barely there shorts also played a part in the well rounded collection, giving style options for the workplace, elegant evenings, and swimwear. Standout pieces included the floor length ruffled gowns, as well as the contrast of a motorcycle jacket over swimwear. This collection was definitely one worth the wait.

Fall 2011 Couture Fashion Shows: Armani Prive pays homage to Japan

There is absolutely no doubt that Giorgio Armani was fully inspired by oriental culture for his Fall 2011 Couture runway collection. Mr. Armani definitely looked to the East for his inspiration, paying homage to Japan with a beautiful collection that included origami, kimonos, florals, and obi belts.

His latest couture collection is in response to Japan’s dance with natural disaster earlier this year in March. If there’s anyone that can rock the runway oriental-style, it is indeed Armani. There were many standout pieces in the collection, including beautiful kimonos, one sleeved jackets, and standout all over floral pantsuits. These pieces combined Eastern influence with minimalism to create one of a kind styles, guaranteed to turn heads. Beautiful shades of tangerine and peach were brilliantly added to darker palettes of black and grey, making a perfect combination to transition from Summer to Fall. Traditional oriental floral prints that consist of cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums flooded the prints, as well as beautiful origami pieces and ikebana flowers worn in hair pieces designed by Phillip Traecy. Standout details included brilliant asymmetry, as well the double cuff seen on pantsuits.

Stylish Travels: Around the World with Elizabeth Taylor’s Wardrobe

Although the talented and beloved Elizabeth Taylor is deceased, it is apparent that her style will forever live on, and inspire many. It was reported Wednesday by Christie’s auction house, that the actress’ fabulous wardrobe, books, designs, and well-known jewelry collection will embark on a 3 month long international tour, before being placed at the auction house to be sold to the public. Taylor’s wardrobe consisted of many couture designs and well known brands, including, but not limited to,Gianni Versace, Gianfranco Ferre and Valentino.

The locations that are privileged to participate in this tour include Dubai, Geneva, Paris, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Moscow, and London. This tour will begin in September, and end at Christie’s in New York, where the items will be displayed exhibition-style from December 3rd through December 10th. The actual auction will take place December 13th through 16th at Christie’s in London, and details will be further revealed in the Fall. Some of the benefits will go to benefit the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

Elizabeth Taylor is best known for her impeccable style, charming beauty and personality, and her love for jewelry and precious stones. She leaves behind great legacy, such as her successful perfume, White Diamonds. Taylor passed away at 79 of congestive heart failure.

Rihanna Channels Sea Siren in Vogue

Rihanna has been appearing everywhere lately, whether it be for her hit songs and controversial videos (see “S&M“), drama with other celebrities (Rihanna-Ciara Twitter war), or her crazy fashion sense the world just can’t get enough of. Last month, she set the world ablaze after appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone, as well as the April cover of fashion’s beloved Vogue Magazine, which is also Vogue’s 10th annual Shape issue.

The fiery red-haired Barbados native did a beautiful oceanside photoshoot with Anne Leibovitz, donning an aqua, sheer fitted gown from Chanel’s pre-Fall 2011 collection for the cover. The beautiful gown left little to the imagination, and added beautiful compliment to the singer’s trademark red locks. Many have taken to the web, comparing Rihanna’s photoshoot to the images of Disney’s famous “Little Mermaid” star, Ariel, due to her haircolor, and the photoshoot’s beautiful “by the sea” theme.

In this photoshoot, Rihanna also debuts a short, plum colored hairstyle, enhancing the bold navy bodysuit she posed in. She definitely shows off her free spirit in the photos that capture her gracefully frolicking alongside the ocean. Roommates….Are They The Reason You’re Single?

As kids, we grew up wanting our childhood friends to come live with us at our parent’s house, making our lives complete. Those beloved days of college brought us a phase of life where having a roommate was awesome, brought plenty of great memories, and even more double dates! Since the beginning of time people have yearned for companionship in close proximity. However, the need for a live in buddy sometimes can be hazardous once relationships come into play.

Lots of times we as women find it more difficult to balance quality time with the Mr. and still hang out just as much with our girlfriends than men do with their buddies. It puts a strain on things, sometimes damaging the bond between friends, or even breaking couples up. This is even more of an issue with best friends that become roommates, as they tend to be more disappointed in the decrease of time spent together.

When dealing with roommates, single ones can cause lots of strain to relationships, unintentionally. Insecurities sometimes arise with men that carry on relationships with females that have single roommates because of the possibility of men being around her place. This can lead to concerns about the single woman having too many male friends around, or even worse, the fear that she might bring friends over for you.

Roommates with kids can sometimes make having a relationship difficult due to the possibilities of not having privacy, or sometimes taking on the babysitting role a little too much, in attempts to be nice and supportive of your roommate.

Pay attention to the dynamics of your relationship while living with a roommate. Sometimes, by the time you find out what is exactly straining the relationship, it has already ended over things that could have easily been prevented or resolved. However, do keep in mind that a relationship isn’t meant to be constantly whisking away insecurities, or having to choose your man over your roommates or friends. Learn to distinguish between making adjustments in your living situation to make your partner comfortable, and needing to let go of a guy that is too demanding and insecure. There is a difference, find your balance.
