Love, Peace and Happiness

February 24, 2010

At the time, I’m sure those 60’s hipsters had no idea that their peace symbol would become such a global icon. And lately, the peace sign and other mid century items have made a big comeback. So why not live the dream and upholster your home furnishings with peace, love and happiness.

I like the basic black and white prints on these upholstered chairs and benches. They are eye catching and would easily match up with other furniture in your home. Don’t underestimate the power of the human conviction!

Who would have thought? Peace

The Doctor Will See You Now

February 8, 2010

Welcome to the doctor’s office.  Vintage metal cabinets that once adorned your favorite doctor’s office now feel at home in your office, den or dining room.  Made of heavy durable stainless steel, these metal cabinets were built to last.

It doesn’t always have to be wood.  Mix things up once in awhile and use some metal cabinets or tables and you’ll feel right at home.  If you are lucky enough to find some rusted metal ones all the better.  The doctor will see you now!

Big Reflection

January 21, 2010

Big frame, big wood, big mirror.  I like the size of this mirror and I like it even more because it’s made from salvaged wood.  Taking old used wood and recycling it into new home furnishings adds style and character to your home.  And it makes your home look lived in.

Next time you go shopping, think twice and help preserve our global environment by choosing products that have been recycled.  So get yourself a recycled mirror so you can enjoy the natural beauty of wood in your home and of course, the natural beauty that’s staring back at you!

Baking a Pie?

January 1, 2010

This antique baker’s cabinet is as natural as the pies it once held.  Real wood, metal hardware and glass pane doors, this cabinet was built to last.  Years of paint to keep it looking as fresh as it’s pies still remains on the glass.  And cool vintage hardware was used to lock away those fresh baked pies.

I can’t remember the last time I smelled a fresh baked pie but I would gladly take this wood cabinet home with me.  Maybe I could heat up a few Mrs. Smith’s deep dish pies and just put them inside the cabinet.  I think … Read More »

What Would Paul Bunyon Think?

December 28, 2009

Think twice before you throw that next log on the fire this winter.  You just might be burning good money.

I like rustic wood end tables with distressed painted wood and natural finished tops.  But here is rustic taken to an extreme.  Going green helps us appreciate our natural resources and sustain our environment.  These salvaged wood logs have been refinished and recycled into cool end tables.  I also like the added touch of combining the rustic wood with metal bolts.  Great by the sofa, chair or even to put your feet up on.  Paul Bunyon would be proud!

Couches Gone Wild!

December 14, 2009

Need I say more?  You’ll get the picture.  My friend Deborah over in Leicestershire, England started her own on-line furniture store, simply named, Couch.  Fully restored period couches, chairs and chaise lounges that have been reupholstered in eye-popping, high end luxury fabrics.

Each piece of furniture is lovingly restored by hand in Deborah’s home, Hemington House.  But you don’t have to travel to England to get one of these treasures, just go to Couch, it’s that easy.  So put your sunglasses on and get ready for couches gone wild!

The British are Coming!

November 30, 2009

Is it ever possible to be too patriotic?  I don’t think so, I love our stars and stripes.  So why not cover your windows, sofas and ottomans in the good old red, white and blue.  That’s what the British are doing.

Across the ocean, the British display their flag on just about anything and now they are offering their patriotism in American stores.  Check out this new line of British home furnishings.  It’s cool, comfortable and patriotic.  But don’t forget our own Betsy Ross!

Crystal Light. A sugar free water soluble beverage made by Kraft Foods.  Five calories per serving and no carbohydrates. STOP…

We’re talking crystal chandeliers here! I was never one for crystal chandeliers but after seeing these vintage chandeliers it got me thinking. They are vintage, unique and full of crystal light.  Drink up!

Coffee Bean Ottomans?

November 7, 2009

Would you believe that these ottomans were once coffee bean bags?  One of a kind jute coffee bags have been repurposed by Gus Modern Furniture into really cool ottomans for everyday living.  I think the mix of texture with wood or leather furniture is a great style combination.

I love these ottomans for their uniqueness, natural fabrics and their repurposed life.  Each one reflects the actual logo and markings of the original coffee bean bag.  Where is Juan Valdez when you need him?

Coffee bag ottomans, how cool.

They really look good as a pair

Designer Chic Skeletons and Skulls

October 29, 2009

It’s the only time of year you can hang a skeleton out on your front porch and be considered designer chic.  And these Halloween skeletons are designer approved.  You won’t find these skulls in any dollar store so sit back and enjoy the bones.  Happy Halloween!

Lampshades Gone Wild

October 22, 2009

Have you ever found yourself at a party with a lampshade on your head?  Well, if you’ve never done it, here are a few crazy lampshades you can try out.  Lampshades can really make the lamp or even complete the look to a sofa, end table or room.  But these lampshades are really over the top when it comes to interior lighting. Which one is your favorite?

This lampshade is definitely party material!

Vintage You Tube

October 7, 2009

Vintage television and an original Egg Chair.  Can anyone remember getting up and down to change the TV channel?  There were only 13 channels so I guess it wasn’t a big deal.  I also don’t remember surfing through the channels like we do today.

This is a cool vintage television by Philips and an even cooler vintage Egg Chair by the famous Danish architect, Arne Jacobson. I can definitely see myself watching TV in this chair although at this price, my feet would stay on the floor!  It also came with a retro media console that today would be great for … Read More »

Vintage Pedal Pushers. These are probably the coolest vintage toy cars I have found yet. A tractor and a race car, what a great combination!

Clothing Barn?

August 20, 2009

I am hooked on vintage decor for the home but I also like my clothes. What better combination could there be than buying my favorite threads inside an old barn!
