Stephanie Churma was born three weeks late in the month of February. Her birth announcement headline stated “Finally” and it rings true. Stephanie has a natural disposition to lose things, misplace her keys and forget her schedule. Slow to start with a quick wit, she often questions whether or not she has locked her door. Stephanie can discuss the level of Confucius principles, yet has a hard time changing a light bulb.

Stephanie graduated with honours from Humber College with a diploma in Fashion Arts, with a focus on journalism, editing, and all aspects of photo-styling. She always had a passion for writing, and felt that it was the one thing that came naturally to her. She equates writing articles to a puzzle; initial concept, re-arrangement of thoughts, laced with wit in a way that makes her readers relate. She strives to make her audience both laugh, think, and feel better after reading.

Stephanie started writing fashion columns for a local Ontario paper called The View, and worked her way up to interviews, lifestyle pieces and a focus on writing about relationships and personal development. Some of her career highlights include interviewing the cast of the Comedy Network’s hit show “Keys to the VIP,” and having many articles picked up for both written and online publications. Her work can be seen on such websites as viewmag.ca, trendhunter.com, and chicgalleria.com to name a few. Stephanie started working for Chic Galleria as a featured writer, and is now a senior editor for the Arts & Entertainment section. She credits her “insatiable, passionate, driven lifestyle” as a fire starter for her articles. She always writes based on personal experience. Be it herself, her friends, or a mere conversation overheard, her columns are all based on actual events.

Stephanie believes in living life by seeing it in a positive light. She equates any circumstances as lessons, and has a high spiritual belief. Some of her hero’s include authors Marianne Williamson, Jack Canfield and James Arthur Ray. Further, spiritual figures such as Maya Angelou and Deepak Chopra give further inspiration.

When she is not reading, writing or editing, she is usually surrounded by her best friends. Be it a local hot spot, cafe, or simply in the comforts of her own home, her time is spent with her ‘ladies’ – and of course her current muse- lucky guy.

How To Tell If He Is Over It

March 5, 2010

My friend and her boyfriend have been together for about four months, exclusive for two. This is the first trimester of new boy times and is usually the sweetest. Over lunch last week she confessed that things had become different. Her man who once seemed long-term worthy was now a bit of a downer. He was depressed, moody and slowly became absent.  About six weeks later they broke up. She was relieved to finally not have to deal with walking on eggshells anymore, and in all actuality wasn’t surprised. She read the warnings crystal clear, and ladies it is time to … Read More »

The Single Girl Freak-out

February 9, 2010

There comes a time once a year, that makes many cringe. Some will come down with pseudo serious nausea, irrational thinking, unintentional bon bon eating, and lest we forget the waterworks. This time of year can be detrimental to our psyche, and without proper care we could end up spending an entire 24 hours utterly miserable.

Ten points and one golden star to the lucky reader to guess what day I am referring to.

Raise your hand if Valentine’s Day is not your idea of a good time. I would like to say that for those readers who are in happy, loving … Read More »

I Choo Choo Choose These!

February 5, 2010

Attention all resident fashionistas! I was just made aware of the newest concept for  Jimmy Choo’s Spring Summer 2010 collection, aptly titled CHOO 24:7. Founder and President Tamara Mellon wanted this season’s footwear to still embody the chic and iconic look that this brand has cultivated; yet with a few new sleek designs.  She has created ten investment pieces that will fit in anyone’s closet.

The inspiration for CHOO 24:7 came from Tamara herself. She wanted staple pieces that would work with her own wardrobe that would stand the test of time, remain fashionable, wearable and reliable. In doing so, however, she … Read More »

The Modern Gal’s Guide to Surviving the Office Christmas Party

December 10, 2009

It is that time of year dear friends. The time that some of us dread, some of us love, and some of us would rather not acknowledge. The office Christmas party. I have worked in many workplace environments; and each December a wave of excitement floods from desk to desk. Are you going? Who are you bringing? What are you wearing? These questions and more are what make events like these hard to navigate. Personally, I have had some of the best and worst times at the holiday hoo-rahs and have decided to share some wisdom learned along the way. … Read More »

LG Fashion Week Part 3: Lizares

November 10, 2009

As Christie and I ventured through the glamorous week of clothes and accessories, we stumbled upon a relatively new design house, Lizares. Both Christie and I had not seen their runway show before, but were excited to see what this Men’s Ready to Wear collection would entail. Sudbury born designer Brian Maristela is known for the re-invention of the bold male. Typically, men’s collections are business focused with a sexual edge; think Gucci when Tom Ford was creative director. However, this time around the look for men could be described as combustion of ‘Edgy Sailor meets Corporate Rocker’ fused with … Read More »

Divine Intervention- An Open Letter to the Recent Single Lady

November 8, 2009

To all the fabulous ladies recently out of a relationship:

I once read an article in which actress Cameron Diaz equated the breakup of a relationship by claiming it was divine intervention. The concept being, that this person has been cosmically removed; the universe intervened for your highest and best interest.

I could not agree more.

We as mortals cannot possibly understand the waves and crashed that occur in front of us. We are not designed that way. We do not know what will happen tomorrow, next week, or next year. This of course, is perfection. We would not keep reading the novel … Read More »

Princess Principles

October 20, 2009

I am noticing a strange pattern in my personal life these days. It all started at work, when I asked a colleague for something. He replied, “Yes, princess” and smirked. Perturbed at the character assumption I just brushed it off.   Oddly enough, the next week another co-worker remarked at my supposed regal title.  I was talking to my lady Meghan about it and she just laughed and told me that I was, in fact a princess.

Pardon me?

It is my own personal belief that pseudo princesses are spoiled, pampered and not the most humble. A princess in the societal term refers … Read More »

Project Runway Interview- Qristyl Frazier

October 19, 2009

New York City gal, Qristyl Frazier was eliminated from Project Runway Season 6 on LifetimeTV, but we couldn’t wait to get a chance to talk to this very talented designer.

CG: Qrystyl, can you share a little bit about yourself and how you got started?

Qristyl: In high school, I was supposed to take a typing class and the class was full, so I had the option of taking either cooking or sewing. Once I was in the class, sewing became very interesting.

Being the youngest of three children and coming from a divorced household, I did not have as much … Read More »

Model Behaviour- Interview with Project Runway’s Celine Chua

October 8, 2009

Celine Chua was ultimately axed from Lifetime’s hit show Project Runway, but she is still a stunner in our eyes! ChicGalleria.com spent some time talking to Miss Chua and she shared some thoughts on her time spent as one of the “Models of the Runway.”

CG- Tell about yourself and how you got started modeling?

Being a tall girl from sunny Singapore, I was lucky enough to start modeling when I participated in a college pageant, resulting in being the runner up. After working with a smaller agency, I was spotted by another model in a mall food court and ended up … Read More »

The Message, The Moment

October 6, 2009

When it comes to love and relationships, often times we keep our rose coloured glasses on. We excuse behaviour that we would have normally had serious issue with. We tend to see our partner in the best light, not only for our own hopes, but to confirm those feelings. However, sometimes our inner guiding light tells us otherwise. These are, in my opinion, considered messages, or moments in which the gal or guy of our dreams shows us who they are; and it is our choice on how to interpret it.

I spent much of 2009 with a man who cared … Read More »

One of my best friends in the entire world is also one of the most accomplished females I have ever met. She constantly meets, exceeds and astounds her expectations, and blazes a trail through her personal life and career.

To Pole or not to Pole; That Is The Question

August 26, 2009

It was a balmy August night and I had something on my mind. Not anything worth serious chatter, just an idea I had floating about. I have been debating whether or not it is skanky to have a pole in the bedroom.

Cosmopolitan Covers

August 5, 2009

I remember when I was barely old enough to buy Cosmopolitan magazines. I always found the cover girls were always so alluring…
