The Ancient World | April 17, 2012

Sometimes you just want to go back in time. One of the ways I’ve always dreamed about doing this is on a cheap holiday to Greece.

I would love to see all the ancient ruins and sights.

The first on my list would be the Acropolis. The marble temple is dedicated to the goddess Athena and is visible from anywhere in Athens. The Parthenon is a grandeur of the Ancient civilization. Built entirely of marble, the temple used to house a giant statue of Athena, the city patron goddess.

Whether you’re a classics buff or a theater fan, Epidaurus’ theatre is worth a … Read More »

Interview with Breakout Star Shanley Caswell | April 17, 2012

Shanley Caswell, star of Sony’s upcoming teen comedy-horror film Detention opposite Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) is set for release on April 13th 2012. Detention has already taken the festival circuit by storm, with a world premiere at last year’s SXSW Festival and then winning the Youth Jury prize for best FutureWave Feature Film at the Seattle International Film Festival (www.detentionmovie.com).

Caswell stars as the cynical social outcast ‘Riley Jones’ in the highly-stylized film which is described as an “apocalyptic fantasy, horror, science fiction, action thriller, body-swapping and time-traveling teen romantic comedy” about the local students of Grizzly Lake who must … Read More »

Wedding preparations have begun, and reality is seeping in.  Your stress levels are at an all-time high.  Instead of sitting there twisting those beautifully glistening diamond engagement rings around your fingers, worrying about how much money you’re about to cost your fathers or yourselves, remember what those rings signify.  If you ladies stress too much about the cost of your wedding (or any part of the planning process for that matter), you won’t be able to enjoy your engagement.  So here are five tips to help you save a few bucks leading up to the big day…and hopefully save you from turning … Read More »

France on the Fly | April 12, 2012

I’m not spontaneous very much, but when I am looking for a last minute holiday — I go all out.

Paris is the dream. It’s not a particularly unique one. Who wouldn’t love to just drop anything and hop on a flight to France? Soon enough, you’ll be strolling along the Seine, and the Champs-Elysee.

The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Louvre are obvious stops. You might be a little overwhelmed with how little time you have if you just take a short getaway, but try to relax and breathe in the City of Love.

One cute spot you shouldn’t miss is … Read More »

Travels in Turkey | April 12, 2012

I’m always thinking of places I could travel that would offer new experiences. Turkey holidays have a lot to offer.

Not only is the landscape gorgeous, but there are really interesting sights to see. The thermal pools, for example, are not found everywhere. Surrounded by a dazzling, though cold, landscape you can enjoy healing sessions in these thermal pools. The Pamukkale pools are particularly beautiful. Sounds like a great view and relaxing visit.

Another interesting spot would be the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. The mosque is large and filled with wondrous mosaics and colorful stained glass. Or, if you would like to spend … Read More »

Take a timeout in Tenerife | March 31, 2012

Gloomy weather has me dreaming about relaxing on a holiday in Tenerife.

Sailing around the island could be fun, and I hear there are great opportunities for whale-watching.

Because of the volcanoes on the island of Tenerife, most of the beaches have black sand, but there are plenty of resorts to visit where golden beaches are made for sunbathing. My personal choice would be Puerto de la Cruz resort, one of the best in the Canary Islands.

Nearby you can visit the old part of the town, where the locals work, eat and drink. The lovely area around the old fishing port is … Read More »

Trekking through Egypt | March 31, 2012

I’ve always thought taking a backpacking trip would be fun. I never thought that it would be perfect on a holiday to Egypt, but I think it just might be!

On most trips to Egypt, you inevitably take a tour of Cairo and visit the pyramids. That would be amazing, but I think I would like to try something different and entirely independent.

I would spend most of my time in Alexandria, I think, because you can’t get enough of the history there.

Egypt sits on the edge of the Sahara Desert, and, while it’s hot and dry, there are a number of … Read More »
