Benefit Features Condom Couture

fixdress.jpgProject Inform's Evening of Hope Condom Couture Fashion Show was held October 17, 2008 in San Francisco.  Guest designer Jack Mackenroth of last season's Bravo reality show "Project Runway" was the evening's host.  The benefit features condom outfits by several Bay Area and national designers, as well as selections from their fall collections.

Jack filled me in on his fabulous evening.  It was an amazing night. There were about 300 guests and the live auction alone raised over 25,000 dollars. Project Inform provides much needed resources for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Bay area. This years event was especially interesting because they went in a new direction by having a fashion show where designers showcased some of their work and then one original look made out of condoms or the wrappers.

Jack made his gown out of 2000 condom wrappers and hot glue.  Even the bouquet was made of condoms!

That is amazing! I once saw an entire dress made out of different colored condoms and it blows me away every time someone creates something new with them. Definitely a versatile item, huh? Ha!
