Well Kids We’re Facing The New Year! | January 5, 2011

I know there is the Jewish New Year, the Chinese New Year and probably one or two other calendars with which I am unfamiliar that declare the beginning of the New Year to occur ‘elsewhen’ (that’s a new word I just crafted, how do you like it?)

I mean even 2011 isn’t really correct, despite the Gregorian corrections to the Julian calendar, (remember your history?) as the earth, even humanity, has been around a lot longer than that.

But for convenience sake most of us opt to call the new year 2011 CE.

Now that we have all that palaver out of the … Read More »

The Glass Was Always Half Full | January 8, 2010

Pessimists don’t despair. Optimism–the key to bouncing back from adversity–is a set of thinking skills anyone can learn.

Optimism is the belief that things will turn out well. It is the expectation that good things will come your way and that you have the ability to control the direction of your life.

When something bad happens, optimistic thinkers believe that what caused the problem can be fixed and won’t affect every aspect of their life. Pessimistic thinkers believe that they are the sole cause of their problems, that they will last forever, and that they will affect … Read More »

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS | November 27, 2008

You may be wondering why it’s important to feel thankful. Oprah talked about this concept a few years ago and she suggested having a thankfulness journal. This is a great idea because it keeps us focused on the positives in our lives. It helps us see the great things we have and do, and puts our frustrations and worries into perspective. But even if you don’t have a journal, you can see the benefits of being conscious of thankfulness – again, it keeps us focused on the great and wonderful things in our lives.

Being grateful means recognizing and appreciating all … Read More »

Attitude of Gratitude | October 30, 2008

Think about all that you have, and are thankful. Start a gratitude journal, and take a few moments each day to write down your thoughts. Find something to be grateful for, “such as your friends, family, and some aspect of your health.”

One of the things I have tried very hard to eliminate from my life is negativity. Negativity is nothing but toxic energy. This toxic energy can come in the form of toxic people, or energy whose only job is to suck and drain the life out of you; or toxic situations. When I find myself in one of … Read More »

Gratitude | October 7, 2008

Numerous times every day I invite you to say “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you” for everything grateful in your life and affirm that you are ready now for the next experience; the next piece of your live to reveal itself.

Living with passion and purpose means living with an attitude of gratitude. When you are grateful for your present light, it becomes brighter. When you are grateful for the things you do have, more will come into your life.

“The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.” Albert Schweitzer
