Mermaid Paradise: SACHIKA Brings the Ocean to Life | September 28, 2011

Identical twins To-Tam and To-Nya of SACHIKA brought an exciting collection to the stage at Elle360’s venue during fashion week. The show started with a bang—quite literally! As the bongo drums started rumbling with live performers playing on stage. Suddenly dancers clad in ivy leaves hopped onto stage for a tribal choreographed routine dancing to the beat of the drums. It caught the crowd off guard and built up the anticipation for the clothes to start coming down the runway.

SACHIKA designed a collection that was inspired by their vision of the perfect, beautiful depths of the ocean. A mermaid … Read More »

Leanne Marshall had her models hit the runway at Helen Mills with another fabulous collection for Spring 2012. Boom! Lights dim and the music starts as the line revealed itself as being absolutely stunning. Intricately detailed and perfectly fitted dresses came out one by one. Marshall’s architectural take on the line was beautiful and any woman would feel gorgeous wearing her dresses out to any event. Great for any special occasion, Leanne’s dresses truly have that feminine touch for a sophisticated, confident woman.

Its okay, I know I’m not exactly reaching the  Twitter fan base (or daily salary) of Lady Gaga  but I do get asked about my day a lot. And the reality is far from what one may think. As a beginner design student my head swirled around visions of me with an assistant at my side, surrounded by luxurious fabrics and sketches of walk-in closets the size of most peoples’ kitchens. I needed little hands-on experience to realize that was probably not going to be a daily occurance. And I’m still waiting on that … Read More »

Excuses, Excuses. What’s Holding You Back From Your Dream Home? | March 9, 2011

Over the years I’ve realized that making a room look attractive requires much more than just knowing which chair to put where. There is a significant amount of psychology that goes into great design and any decorator worth her fee knows how to combat her clients’ fears and misconceptions, helping them overcome whatever is holding them back so that they get the room they really want. Today I would like to cover a few of the most popular fears or misconceptions that may be keeping you from hiring a professional decorator to finally achieve the design you deserve.

1. Decorators are too expensive. I … Read More »

If you’re tired of giving the same old response of “I dunno…Pottery Barn, I guess”, may I suggest three simple ways to identify what your styles may be. I use the plural form of the word because most Americans don’t have just one favorite these days- not like in the 90′s when French Country was French Country and not “Country Chic mixed with Bohemian … Read More »
