Sterling Silver or Gold: A Matter of Taste‏ | July 26, 2010

Many women struggle trying to decide between sterling silver or gold accessories. As with most trends in the fashion world, you’ll find jewelry designers who choose to work exclusively in one metal; however more and more designers are choosing to work in both when creating their collections.

Many of the pieces you’ll find in the marketplace of high-end hand-crafted jewelry will be made of sterling silver or gold filled metal. Gold-filled simply represents a process that bonds solid gold to a metal alloy. The gold will not wear off! This process allows the wearer to have all the benefits of pure … Read More »

Interview with Rory Ashton Trinket Collection and Giveaway | July 19, 2010

When was the Rory Ashton Trinket Collection founded? In 2006.

Tell me about what lead you to study design & what do you love most about designing?

I knew from the get go that I wanted to be a part of all things glitz and glamour. From a very early point in my life I was into creating and re-creating things that looked more “me”. Initially jewelry was something I just dipped my toes in, making pieces here and there for friends and anyone willing to buy. Once I realized people were willing to buy I dove in full throttle. What I … Read More »

Swap Your Way To Style | July 14, 2010

The word “recessionista” emerged to define women who still want great fashion while on a budget. Oftentimes, a budget still prohibits you from being able to shop for anything beyond the necessities. Fashion swaps are great ways for women to change up their style with little to no cost involved.

Planning a fashion swap is a simple process. First, tell all your friends of the date, time & location of your swap. Ask them to bring over 3-4 gently used in season items that they no longer wear. Let them know that everyone is being asked to bring the same number … Read More »

Material Girl | July 8, 2010

I was really excited to read that Madonna will be launching a fashion line this upcoming summer at Macy’s (August 3rd). Madonna, who is no stranger to fashion or the many changes in trends it recycles on a regular basis – is perfect for the job. Her image is constantly evolving, keeping her fans and media constantly begging for more.

Instead of making her line high priced, I was pleasantly surprised to see that she is making a much more affordable line. Her collection will have prices ranging from $12-$80. I have no doubt that she will be a large competitor … Read More »

Flapper | July 6, 2010

I love picking up a good book. Something about being lost in a fabulous story is just divine to me.

I recently picked up the book, “Flapper: A madcap story of sex, style, celebrity, and the women who made America modern” by Joshua Zeitz. Let me tell you – this is a book you don’t want to miss.

The fashion, hyjnx and unbelieveable tales of women in the 1920′s and what they had to put up with is nothing short of shocking. Joshua’s research of this era is nothing but thorough, and he does an excellent job of recounting events in the … Read More »

“I D.I.E.” | July 1, 2010

For awhile, there was a large trend to have celebrities turn into designers. It was rampant. The same seems to have taken place with celebrities dipping their hands into the perfume pool. Quiet frankly, I think it’s over saturated, and I’m over it. I think the market is too celebrity obsessed and needs to get back to models and fashion insiders.

That’s why I was delighted to find out last week that Rachel Zoe is set to launch her own line in the Fall of 2011. Here, she will have a lifestyle brand of accessories, clothing, and shoes.

Already being a freelance … Read More »
