‘Tis Season, To Consider Your Reason! | December 19, 2011

‘Tis Season, To Consider Your Reason!

In Life, ‘It’s’ all about

Perspective, Perspective, Perspective!

So, what’s yours?

Do you know for sure?

Let’s find out shall we?

I’m going to pose a series of questions, the answers to which many people don’t even want to consider, let alone face. These are questions, whether you have thought about them consciously or at a more sub-cortical or unconscious level, whose responses define you, direct you, even control your thoughts, feelings and actions. So think carefully before you read on and do the required work. Because if you do, well, one does not come away from a self awareness … Read More »

How to Bring Glamour to Your Home | November 8, 2011

When I hear people talking about glamour, I always think of old Hollywood, circa 1940′s and 1950′s. And this applies equally in fashion and in home decor. There’s something so special about this bold and intriguing style, with all its rich details, crystal accessories, upholstered sofas and mirrored furniture.

Color palette is quite simple: white or beige backdrop, accessorized with soft touches of black, silver, gold and pastels. Then again, too much glamour can kill the glamour, so use it with caution and light hand, especially in … Read More »

Surviving Valentine’s Day After Your Sweetheart Has Passed Away | February 10, 2011

By Joni Aldrich

For kids, Valentine’s Day is a time to exchange funny cards and eat boxes of chocolate. For adults, it’s often much more than just a time to send flowers and buy heart jewelry, chocolates, and cards—it’s a time to rededicate your love to one special person. But when you’re a widow or widower, or have lost your love due to any unfortunate life circumstance, Cupid’s arrow can pierce your heart in a very different way on February 14th. What was once a holiday of “warm fuzzies” can turn into a … Read More »

Oh Tannenbaum | December 24, 2010

Searching for our Christmas tree was the perfect opportunity for my daughter and me to spend some time together without computers and phones.  It was cold, but not too cold.  The sun was out and we were on a mission.  It wasn’t hard to find a tree we both agreed on, but more importantly it was nice to be able to laugh and enjoy the day together.

Puerto Rican Eggnog | December 22, 2010

This is a treasured recipe that my dear friend Lisa got from the kitchen at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami.  She spent Christmas Eve there a couple of years ago and she and her husband, Matt, just so happened to have a seat at the bar when the guys in the kitchen made this to share with the staff; talk about being in the right place at the right time. They said it was the most delicious eggnog they had ever tasted ; the subtlety of the coconut milk, the nice bright zest of lime and the smoothness of … Read More »
