I’ve written about my love for them, and even created a video showing others how to wear it so they may join in my delight. I find statement pieces to be endlessly versatile in that they instantly dress an outfit up or down – giving you attitude and/or elegance.

It’s pretty serious. I can never seem to get enough of it. I’ve written about my love for them, and even created a video showing others how to wear it so they may join in my delight. I find statement pieces to be endlessly versatile in that they instantly dress an outfit up or down – giving you attitude and/or elegance.

So naturally, I must share with you any delicious finds that come my way!

This time, designer Michelle Harvey has caught my eye. Her company, “Michabella Creations” is definitely something to keep your eye on. Her jewellery is filled with elegant timeless pieces that can only add value to one’s wardrobe. Some are even vintage inspired – yummy!

One particular favourite is a necklace that our Editor in Chief of Chic Galleria magazine wore in a recent photo shoot (pictured above). Needless to say – she looks stunning!

This necklace, to me, is so playful. The different colours that sparkle in it, and the feminine touch it delivers with the fine jewels and flowers is delicious. I see this being worn all around town – with a cute blazer and tee during the day, to a more delicate and sensual silk shirt in the evening when painting the town red. Again, endlessly versatile.

When asked about how the necklace is created and what it’s made from, Michelle said, “it’s made of vintage style Dahlia pendants that are enameled with Swarovski crystal centers. I hand linked the bezel set crystals in shades of aquamarine, rose, and amethyst to co-ordinate for the longer strands of the necklace. The top strand is comprised of 6 mm Swarovski crystals with sterling silver bead caps. The chain and clasp is sterling silver.”

Drool.

The best part of Michelle’s necklace and the rest of her collection? The prices are completely reasonable and easy on anyone’s wallet. This gorgeous necklace is only $85.00. I know. I couldn’t believe it either.

You can find her delicious pieces at www.michabellacreations.com (some of her chandelier earrings also caught my eye!).

Happy shopping!

Warmest wishes,

Deborah Grivas Designs enjoyed the honor of being nominated for the 2005 Dallas Fashion Award for design in jewelry.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Deborah about her current collection, its influences and her take on fashion trends. Here’s what she shared:

Q. You have so many great, bold necklaces in your collection…perfect for this trend of ‘statement necklaces’. Other than jazzing up a little black dress or simple t-shirt, what style suggestions do you have for readers to show off your bold necklace designs?

A. I suggest bold statement necklaces be worn inside the collar of a crisp white shirt with boyfriend jeans and platforms.

Q. I love that your pieces are affordable and versatile. How do you find the stones and what inspires your color choices for you designs?

A. I select stones from a number of different sources. I look for unusual colors, cuts and finishes, and then combine them in unexpected ways. A million things inspire me.

Q. What do you see as the next trend in jewelry? What upcoming tricks do you have up your design sleeve?

A. For Spring 2010 think clean and modern…. neutrals that have edge include dark purple and pink, silver smoke topaz, silver grey and silver champagne crystal combined with bronze and charcoal linen cord. I love the look of big pearls combined with linen and leather and clear nugget crystal with matte gold leather to go with brights.

Deborah’s jewelry makes a great gift for a woman of any age, or naturally, for yourself! From her bold necklaces and chandelier and hoop earrings, to her gorgeous fresh water pearl pieces, there is something for every taste and budget.
