Let’s Make Some $$$$ Cleaning Out Our Closets! | February 17, 2010

It’s that time of year again….time to clean out those clothes closets.  I bet each of you have at least $100-$200 or more worth of clothes you could make from consigning your clothes or selling them at a garage sale.

In Tulsa we have two great consigning stores that I like one Bearlee New in Broken Arrow (93rd and Aspen/145th) and The Children’s Closet in Tulsa (32nd and Harvard).  Bearlee New sells women’s, men’s and children’s clothing so that’s why I go there plus I have always been happy with the money results.  They are always have customers.  A good friend of … Read More »

Organizing Winter Gear | February 10, 2010

I thought today would be a great time to make a quick inventory of what you may need for next winter season.  I don’t know about your house, but almost every hat, glove and pair of boots are drying out in my laundry room from sledding this weekend.  Since the kids (most of the kids) are at school today, why not take a moment and go through your winter gear.

It seems as though my boys feet grow by leaps and bounds every season.  If you had to smoosh a couple of feet into boots this weekend or if some gloves … Read More »

The Family Binder | February 5, 2010

A family binder will save time, cuts stress, and enhances communication in any-sized family or household. It is basically a reference book for busy families. The binder holds a lot of different information your family needs on a regular basis that often ends up being scattered around the house. The Family Binder makes it easy to keep everything together, in one reference book.

Putting one together is easy: Just get any kind of three-ring binder, and a bunch of plastic sheet protectors or I use index dividers with two-sided pockets. Then just print out forms you need, put calendars from school … Read More »

Any Change Is Good Change | January 22, 2010

I know all of you have change laying around the house. If you look in your closet, ash tray of your cars, the bottom of your purses and of course the top of your husband’s dresser you will find pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters. It’s amazing how much change you can accumulate in a single day.

Try this tip for keeping your change in one place. Find a container, jar or even a piggy bank to hold all of your change. We use an old popcorn can from when the Boy Scouts sold their chocolate caramel covered popcorn. Oh so yummy … Read More »

If your New Year’s resolution was to get organized, now is the time to “Clear the Clutter”!  Getting things organized won’t happen overnight but with small changes you can start creating habits that will help to keep the clutter away.

Create structure in your day. If you are always spinning your wheels and feeling as though you are getting nowhere, try managing your time with a plan. Don’t over-schedule your day.

In With the New, Out With the Old… | December 30, 2009

Something new you may want to try this year is a “things to remember list” for next Christmas that you can place in with your decorations.  Basically it is a list of things like desserts everyone loved/hated, buy a bigger turkey for next year, don’t invite so and so again unless you are mentally up for it!!  This list will help you take the guess work out of next Christmas.  Don’t forget to add to this list, “make sure there are enough batteries on hand”, nothing is worse than getting a new toy for Christmas that needs batteries and you … Read More »

The Children will be Home Soon! | December 16, 2009

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but next week is the last week you have before the kids are out of school.  YIKES! I realize you have 100+ things left to do on your to-do list but maybe we could rearrange some items to take advantage of children being at school.

Try to get as much done next week that is secretive such as; wrapping their Christmas presents, making sure Santa has gotten everything on their list, stocking stuffers and even if you have a return or two to make because you decided on something else for your … Read More »

At this point of the season I just want to scratch everything off of my list!  This weekend I decided to tackle or attack our Christmas cards.  My husband loves for us to send out a card with a picture of the boys.  By the time you figure out who to send them to and who sent you one last year that wasn’t on your list, before you know it you are sending out a ton of cards.

Here I am Saturday evening stuffing the picture into each card one after another.  Now I am signing all of them with all … Read More »

Yes, I am going to try and organize your spending.  I know, I know I have gone over the line this time but if someone doesn’t cross it you maybe wondering how to organize your budget after the first of the year.

First of all, find all of your available balances on your credit cards and your interest rate.  If you don’t have to use them great, but just in case, let’s try use the credit cards wisely. I would use the card with the lowest interest rate and leave the rest of your cards at home so it will be … Read More »
