Introducing DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg | October 12, 2011

The new scent DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg is the ultimate accessory, created by a fashion legend.

As part of the Vogue Influencer Network, I was given the opportunity to review the new fragrance DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg. I received a large tube of the DIANE Fragrance Lotion and a sample of the DIANE Eau de Toilette.

Fresh and sensual, DIANE the lotion is the perfect post-shower pick-me-up. With the same a bold mix of soft Frangipani flower and mischievous Violet, all balanced with a sexy twist of myrrh, musk and patchouli, it is feminine, powerful, and seductive.

Sweet Smelling Jet Setter | January 20, 2010

After being on a plane and jet setting somewhere for hours, the first thing I want to do is take a shower. But, it can be a long time until that happens in some circumstances (by the time you get off the plane, get your luggage and take a cab to your hotel), so I always like to refreshen by brushing my teeth (or at least chewing gum), putting on a little deodorant and some sweet smelling (not overpowering) perfume. Well, this is the one I’ll be taking with me on my next trip. It’s Madagascar Orchid oil perfume, by … Read More »

Giveaway:The Purple Dress Limited Edition Perfume | December 21, 2009

After two years in the making, Ayala Moriel revealed her latest creation:

THE PURPLE DRESS

A salute to Sasha Argov’s famous song, The Purple Dress is just as romantic in a chromatic, nocturnal, off-beat way. Champaca flowers from India are the main theme of this spicy, floral tea-like composition, supported only by hints of white magnolia and star anise, and a foundation of black tea and smoky woods. It is sensual comforting and exotic like a combination of full-bodied, fruity mulled wine, spicy tea and smoldering incense.

Top Notes: Star Anise, Nutmeg, Mace, Orange Juice & Peel

Heart Notes: Red Champaca, Golden Champaca, White … Read More »

Toxic | November 17, 2009

I don’t know about you – but my daily routine involves applying various “lotions and potions” to my face and body multiple times during the day.

There are the cleansers, toners and moisturizers to keep my skin clear; the SPF I apply after wards to protect it, and the makeup to enhance my features. Not only this, but, what also comes into contact with my skin is the soap I use in the shower, the shampoos and conditioners, the body lotion I use after wards, perfumes, deodorants, and the list goes on!

When you really think about it – how many products … Read More »

Custom Created Perfume For Self-Expression | March 6, 2009

Monreal-born and Israel-raised, Ayala Sender, owner of Ayala Moriel Parfums, always knew how to appreciate good scents. “It wasn’t until moving to Vancouver, a beautifully clean northern city with hardly any scent at all – that I felt the urgency to re-invent my olfactory environment with familiar scents from home. I started with incense in 2001, and quickly decided to start a perfume company dedicated to self-expression through the art of natural perfumery.”

“More than anything else, people and nature inspire my perfumes. I wanted to open to individuals the possibility of creating custom-scents and being involved in the process – … Read More »

Paris Envy: Department Stores | December 10, 2008

Drugstores were one important outlet for moving smaller French merchandise, such as rouge, hair tonic, and perfumes, but the biggest boost for its largest export, fashion, came from the advent of department stores.  Again, France was the forerunner, opening its first department stores in Paris in the 1830s. The first American department stores opened in the 1870s.    “Department stores,” argues historian William Leach, “pictured the desirable as did no other contemporary institution….They had little in common with the drab dry goods houses of the earlier period, which had been operated by pious Protestant merchant”.

Leach is emphatic in his claim … Read More »
